You will need to trim around 1/8" inch from the top and bottom of the radio surround on the dash, I used a metra kit I got from Circuit City. Everything fits fine, no other trimming is required other than the dash. Pretty easy if your patient and measure/test fit twice and install once.

On my Excursion I have it mounted on top of the reciever also. Fits nicely right under bumper. Most people can't really find it at first glance.

500 X 240 worked for me, resolution isn't too bad.

Well, using 136 x 72 mm still give me black all the way around. I will try the 500 x 240, thanks.

Thanks, I just ended up using the MM height/width in photoshop. Seemed to workout fine. The are for my excursion.

I can't seem to find the Height & Width in pixels for the D3. Is it the same as the D2? Trying to create a custom background and using pg. 66 in the manual gives me an over-square image that has black bars on the side and extends past the top & bottom. Spec's at the end of the manual say Screen size/aspect ratio ..... 6.1 inch wide/17:9 (effective display area: 136 ✕ 72 mm) Pixels .................................... 336 960 (480 ✕ 234 ✕ 3) Thanks.

Because I was told on a Ford Forum that it was the black w/ pink stripe. Nobody mentioned there were two. I tested the second time. I ended up having to splice off of the reverse light itself b/c I was already nearby.

That was it, pulled the voltage and was 12. Apparently there are two black w/ pink stripe wires around the reverse lights on ford excursions. Thanks for the help.

I started reading the manual after I made the previous post, but i know to RTFM. What causes the camera to come on? Additionally, what would cause the D3 to go straight to the camera on start up? If it was being feed constant power, would that do it? Maybe my reverse lines are constant power w/ a relay to trip the lights on.

Yes I hooked up to the reverse lights for the signal input. How do I get to the hardware - connection status menu? Still trying to find my way around this thing

Just finished the installing everything on my Excursion, I was going to tidy everything back up after testing but I don't know if this is the normal camera operation. 1st, Camera is grounded and set to 12v switched power at the D3. When I turn the car on and let it idle, the camera automatically comes up and I can't make it go away. I haven't driven forward or backwards yet, so I don't know if that will have anything to do with it. Is that normal? Thanks

I should be close to first on the list, Wed 28th @ 10:18pm. This was the info I was fishing for from CF, but they wouldn't give it up.

Official answer from CS rep at CF "I have a note showing that due to demand we are receiving limited supplies of the D3." She did not say that they're wasn't a shipment received on 3.6.07, she just said that they are limited supply and that she doesn't have a record of the last shipment that they received. I got the impression that she was b/s'ing me, and either didn't know what she was saying or that they had received units in and I didn't make the cut. Either way my install is shot, so I'll have to reschedule my time. Just thought I would pass on the info. Just remember that th

so what is CF saying has happened? Pioneer didn't ship or not enough units to go around?

I've got my camera, but still waiting on the D3 like you, so I can't speak on the quality of the picture. The spec's look like it should be a fine unit, but the actual camera it's self is tiny. Maybe 1.25" x 1.25" I don't plan on returning mine, but if CF does ship out today I'll have mine tomorrow and will install that night, so Friday morning I'll know for sure.

I placed my order on the 28th and still haven't had it ship yet.

I ordered at 10:18pm, that last 2:30 hrs from you to me must have been the the magic time b/c mine still shows not invoiced. Dang, I want that thing here soon.

Does this mean that if I get the BT adapter and pair it w/ my phone that it won't mute the music if I answer through the D3?

Nice review. What year is your 350? I've got an excursion I'm installing a D3 in next week.

I placed my order yesterday when Crutchfield said they were out and I my order shows that the D3 has shipped today, maybe they found a couple of extra units.
