  1. So is this true, aka you have a Z120 or X920? I tried this in my wife's VW today and it worked fine. Can't believe that Pioneer would be the company to NOT allow this dialing feature really - no one has tried this except for a Kenwood owner
  2. be sure to let us know how the final tests worked out
  3. With these units, when connected through Bluetooth, can you press extra numbers on the touchscreen, after a call has connected? For example, you've dialed a call, connected, and then a recording says "press 1 for English", or "please enter the extension number". Or, do you have to pick up your phone and futz with the handset for these extra entries? I wonder if Kenwood can do this as well, or not.
  4. Honestly, I don't have hate for Pioneer... at least I didn't before this particular unit. I just think this unit is a failure on Pioneer's part & I got a cheap price. I really feel for those who paid full price for this unit. If it weren't for the navigation & the Bluetooth I could probably live with it but either one of those is a deal breaker for me let alone both. not to mention MSN Direct. I am leaning towards one of these, primarily due to iPod and price, but I'm concerned that it's made solely for iPhone owners, which I will likely never be.
  5. it certainly is of certain pages on this site
  6. If Pioneer sells this unit around the world, then maybe it performs better with GSM phones, aka, maybe that's where they spent more R&D - I too have T-Mobile GSM. Sounds like you really dislike the unit. For those of us who were leaning towards the Pioneer, the mic test would have been good, but I can see where you're at if you really have a hate-on for it.
  7. if you have the Kenwood mic, try it with the Pioneer before you swap out the X920. CDMA or GSM - which one is more prevalent around the world?
  8. Okay, I guess. It's the only site I visit regularily with this warning. Good to hear there are no worries

    SMS text?

lol - so true. On the other hand, responsible people can text while parked - isn't that the second amendment?

    SMS text?

am I getting the terms wrong? I though all cell phones were capable of sending text messages - but that's not SMS? Then do Pioneers and Kenwoods accept or send regular text messages while connected bia bluetooth?
  11. I wish I had another quality mic to test it but I don't. Also, my system was installed by a local dealer and I would have to tear out the front dash again to have access to the connectors. My setup is: - iPhone 2G - 2010 Nissan Versa hatchback - Phoenix Gold 230 XS and Rockford Fosgate P300-1 amps, JL Audio components and Pioneer TS-3002D4 subwoofer Again, I tested this in my garage on a quiet night so there are no road noise. a constant buzzing usually points to a ground problem - hence my question about aftermarket gear. Do you have a ground loop isolator installed anywhere?

    SMS text?

thanks. I imagine there is with certain Kenwoods?
  13. that seems like a fairly decent test. What phone, what vehicle, and what other aftermarket audio equipment is installed, if any? See if you can find another mic (the local auto shop sells Kenwoods for around $30) and swap them while the call is "hot" - which is probably a huge PITA, but can't think of another way to eliminate the mic concept.

    SMS text?

so is there a way to receive any kind of text messages with the Pioneer decks?

    SMS text?

after searching here high and low (cause' I read it in the features list of a Kenwood 7140), I looked here for SMS capable Pioneer decks. didn't find anything. did I miss it somewhere, or is SMS not possible on X920's and Z120's? (sending, receiving or both)
  16. from what i'm reading here, mp4 files don't seem likely - isn't Divx the only format supported? I even tried converting some very small files to divx using "divx convertor plus", and the X920 threw up a "can't support resolution" screen. The resulotion was tiny - well under 640x480. It could be a symptom of the super-puny micro-SD cards, but I haven't been able to get a single video file to play yet on test models. MP3's were fine, however. Why'd you change from Kenwood?
  17. can you guys note your vehicles, and any other aftermarket audio gear involved
  18. 2007 Mazda 3 GT hatchback, 5 door, 2.3 litre auto transmission, Bose 6 speaker/sub without factory nav thanks
  19. so the only way to get smooth playback from an SD card is to NOT fill the tiny screen?
  20. when you're talking about a max file size playing on the X920, is that ONLY from an SD card - aka if you put a 2gig Divx file on a DVD disc, would that play?
  21. Are you allowed to look for POI's "near" a different location (I think that's what Garmin calls it)? For example, I'm in Los Angeles heading north, and I want to search for POI's near Fresno
