  1. I have this setup. You need the N3 or N4 maps to get the N2 to recognize the N3 brain I believe
  2. I have to manually go in and hit "recalculate." ANy ideas why? Also, the guidance voice doesn't talk unless I prompt it to do so... Avic N2 w/N3 brain, upgraded to v70 software.
  3. I can't find it... The search function on this forum is terrible... Thanks in advance for the link... I can't find the part # of that pen on Radio Shack's website anymore...

    N2 with N4 brain

Has anyone done this? Will it work? Right now, I have an N2 with an N3 brain, and have updated the software with the N4 Maps (CNDV 70MTP). Is there any advantage to me swapping a N4 brain into my N2? Thanks!
  5. Jebbeze, get off MLK Blvd before you get mugged!
  6. just send it in to pioneer and they fix for free? how long do they have it for? Also, what will they say when they see my soldering job on the bottom?
  7. OK, apparently you need to update the software to the new version first... I put the N2 brain in, upgraded to N3 software, then hooked up the N3 brain... Everything works now!
  8. actually just noticed that everything is dark except the touch screen.... sound like a loose connector somewhere??? no blue lights at all...
  9. i think i can live with it off... its only an issue when the unit is closed... when its open, the LCD background works just fine....
  10. My external display on my N2 (when the unit is closed) seems to have gone dark... Can anyone think of what's wrong with it?
  11. Im using an N2 HU and N2 brain with the 70 software and the bypass... Everything still works OK since the software upgrade
  12. I was trying to use the N2 discs though (I hadn't got my replacement N3 discs yet)... And it wouldn't recognize the brain... Do I need to upgrade the N2 HU to N3/N4 software first, then swap the newer brain in? Thanks!
  13. where did you get the software??
  14. Anyone got these discs yet? Wondering if there is a software upgrade too that will update the Siris interface etc...
  15. There is no v1.0 or 1.2 of the 60m discs.I guess Pioneer got smart and doesnt do updates for these anymore. Just rolls the updates into upgrade discs. Yeah, thats wheat they said... theoretically if 1.2 existed theyd update it for free... The guy told me 1.0 was bug free. I told him he must never had used Sirius because it sucks.
  16. I just called Pioneer. There is a distinction between upgrade and update. Update DVD's are free (i.e. going from CVDV-60M v1.0 to 1.2) Upgrade DVD's you pay for (i.e. you'll pay $250 for CNDV-70MTP)
  17. great, thanks for all the help guys!
  18. Perfect... So hold onto my N3 brain and all devices... Get a new DVD from an N3, and it will update the firmware on the N2 screen... So the iPod functionality will be the same, and the Sirius will still suck, correct? Thanks. Looks liek I can find an N2 for about $200 cheaper than an N3... Sounds like I should go with an N2, since everything else will work the same...
  19. Newark, NJ at a wedding. UGH... Actually, during the ceremony… The church, in Newark, was a beautiful cathedral--located in the middle of the ghetto. Ugh. we came out, windows smashed, Navigation, iPod, etc all gone… UGH. This is the church, btw: http://www.cathedralbasilica.org/ . On their "Getting Here" portion of the website, they ironically wrote this: Parking Secure on-street parking is available on all surrounding streets. Ugh… Anyhow, they keyed her car, took the NAV system, smashed a window etc.
  20. The Discovery has a factory security system... It'd been going off for 20 minutes and noone did anything... The cops said "You know how many car alarms go off in Newark each day." Ugh. So I can pick up an N2, use the circuit write pen, and the iPod and Sirius and maps will be exactly the same, correct? By using the N3 maps, does that upgrade the software of the N2 headunit automatically? Thanks!
  21. If I see a listing for a main unit go up for sale in Newark, NJ (where it was stolen) I'm going to be very unpleased... ugh
  22. I wish it had the display on the main screen like they have on the higher model CD players (LED I think) where you can actually see it in the sunlight...
  23. My AVIC-N3 monitor was stolen Saturday... They left the N3 brain, CD-IB100 iPod adapter, SIR-PNR2 Sirius unit, PAC SWI-PS steering wheel controls, and reverse camera all intact. They also made off with my East Coast DVD (60M)--I still have the West Coast one... Anyhow, what are my options here, besides getting a new AVIC N3 monitor and / or entire new AVIC-N3 / or waiting for the N4 to come out? Can I just plug an N1 or N2 monitor into my N3 brain? Will I still be able to watch video while in motion? Will the steering wheel controls etc all still work? How about the iPod and Sir
  24. Just called Pioneer... They confirmed that the N4 will be out in September. They also confirmed that my iPod and Sirius interface from my N3 will work with the N4... That's good news... Someone broke into my car and swiped my N3 this weekend (they left brain and all the other controls, etc). I was trying to decide if I should buy a cheap N3 or wait for the N4 to come out... From the guy I spoke with when I called Pioneer: "The N4 is a much better unit. Faster processor, plays iPod video, Bluetooth, and has a bigger screen. Plus all your N3 accessories will work with it." Looks lik
