  1. The big concern I have at the moment is this explicit warning from the 5.100 upgrade instructions document, considering I have a Z120... Have warnings like this been safe to ignore in the past? I haven't discovered the right search terms yet that might lead me to where people are discussing whether it was worthwhile or even possible to apply this update to their Z120s, or anything not a Z140. Oh hey, I should have just browsed the old fashioned way. There are threads around. Looks like its probably just a waste of time.
  2. Will this include the fix for Lightning connectors that came around for the Z140? Is there any reason or need to install any of the previous upgrades or patches? I'm paranoid after reading talk of that in the 2015 thread. I have a Z120 upgraded to the Z130 Version/Platform Version 3.000, Application Version 3.001, Bluetooth 3.22.
  3. itpro, have you by chance swapped your HUs to see if the problem is specific to the vehicle or the HU? Perfect chance to isolate the problem! I've tried separating and shielding the signal and power wires but nothing makes a difference. Using name brand Pioneer and Apple cables too. Especially since it occurs during dvd playback, it seems like it has to be internal. I haven't tried SD playback, but I doubt it'll be any different. I saw about grounding the RCA shielding, but again, that won't have any impact on internal source playback. So I guess that leaves interference coming in on powe
  4. If you jailbreak and use Backgrounder to enable true multitasking for Pandora, the song info will still be displayed on the avic when you go to do something outside of Pandora.
  5. So I'm getting this same distortion with all video sources. Lines across black and dark colors. The UI is fine; it only happens when its playing some kind of video. Reminds me of the lines seen during playback of VHS tapes. Is this present in every unit? I'm almost ready to exchange it.. but just checking to see if this is common.
  6. Lol. So instead of saying anything meaningful you criticize wikipedia's credibility. There are references at the bottom. But ok, you're going to play stubborn. I'm not finished! I'll find it.
  7. Wow, this is such unheard of BS! Here's a short snippet that took all of 10 minutes to find: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management
  8. I could very well be wrong about the copyright law, but you guys don't have to be assholes about it! You may think its BS but what do you know about copyright law? Are you copyright lawyers? Law students? Content distributers? Content creators? I'd seriously like to know what the law says. And you think I'm paranoid? About the lengths movie studios go over DRM? Are you kidding? This is where I first heard this. It is by no means authoritative, legitimate, or definitive. But I am honestly curious what a qualified person has to say about the matter. http://www.crutchfield.com/p
  9. The miniplug is only for playback of signals assosiated with video. Because of Hollywood copyright laws all audio from movies has to be outed as an analog signal. That means that all manufacturers supporting video playback have to have their iPods connected using that fking 3.5mm jack. Music audio is exported out of the iPod as digital through usb and converted to analog using the headunits DACs, which are of far greater quality. Pioneer has been quoted as confirming such. So its really only a paranoid, futile attempt by the capitalistic movie studios to control and limit the use of their prod
  10. Trying to lay out my setup and I can't find any info on this, so I guess it's going to be a long shot. Since I don't have the z120 yet, I'm hoping someone can share their experience. I'm hoping I'll be able to leave my 240GB ipod in the glovebox (tinyurl.com/36gu5u4 if you're interested) and still connect the phone to share data/screen/audio for playing stuff off the internet or from my computer at home. It wouldn't be difficult to frankenstein a y splitter cable from http://www.cablejive.com/categories/Car-Audio/ but getting it to work probably will be. If all else fails, putting a sw
