My problems started as well with the joystick and some of the buttons. Shortly after it was the display, which turned black. In the end it was the flex cable that needed to be replaced. Mine is AVIC-X and Pioneer europe is not replying to emails so this joke set me back about $100,--, but in this Forum I read that Pioneer USA is repairing them free of charge, so you could be in luck.

Isn't this the sensor for Daylight? I have the AVIC-X1 and whith this unit it is so that if you drive in a dark surrounding the display illumination dims. Regards, Jan

Do a search on this forum for Ribbon cable. You will find a post with a latter from Pioneer USA about the free replacement. Bring the letter together with the unit to the dealer. Unfortunately I am here in Europe and Pioneer Europe has a problem with refunds let alone with replying to emails. Regards, Jan
