  1. this thread says Firmware updating problem not Firmware updating problem only for Z120. it is under the Z110BT/Z120BT/Z130BT section. so i am not sure why i am supposed to only feel it is for the Z120 and i think it is related to the crappy way pioneer is doing things.
  2. i have the Z130 and having the same update problem and i have looked and it is 3.000 which means it should update to 3.001. so either the unit is showing the wrong information or the SD card they sent is not working or there is a secret they are not telling us.
  3. that is right. the 130 is worse and again there is no reason for that other than they have got too arrogant. but this is a japan issue. we do business there and we get demand to make changes and we do, but it does not go the other way. i was at the HK electronics show and i am now thinking to come out with our own product. well it is taking a Chinese product, kicking up the QC and we would write the software so that it works for the user. the hardware cost little and the software is just programing. our US programers are great and can give us what we want. but i think the after market is a dyi
  4. i can't seem to make you understand. what communication via bluetooth to the z120? there is none other than it being used as the speaker for the phone and the ipod and retriving the phone book. the mic takes your voice to the BT in the Z120 and sends it to the phone. the phone sends it back and the Z120 sends it to the speakers. if you mean the BT on your phone is sounding good via a different BT head set, then that means the BT on the phone is fine. but it says nothing to the BT in the Z120.
  5. that is a good question but my poiunt is the same. the information is there. you can see it at the top of the screen. but it is not transfered in a way that the preset wants it to make it automatic. and the programer is not smart enough or cares enough to capture the data and put it in the preset.
  6. if you look at the big manual it shows that it does work with the XM but it is just software!! meaning that ok so you want it to send the preset station number but it does not. but you have the preset station information because it is there at the top of the screen. so it is putting it out in some digital form so you capture it and put it in to a varible that stores it for the name of the preset.
  7. i guess i am not being clear. the mic is hard wired to the radio system. the system then sends the voice to the phone via BT.
  8. but is it the mic or is it the BT? can you plug the iphone in and use it like an ipod and also use it to make calls via the hard cable? i will try to see if that works.
  9. i am using the attached mic that came with the unit. or i assume it came with the unit but when you say you gave up BT that means you gave up phone calls because if the phone is connected by BT to the Z120 then you are making calls by BT even if you are using a hard wired mic. correct?
  10. moving the mic to a dead spot out of the area of air movement from the air con and window i think helps. i also think putting a sock over it helps. but there are upgrades to the BT and i am surprised that they don't even want to use those upgrades.
  11. i had an interesting discussion with Rocky. here is his comments 1. there are no updates to the Z120 and there never will be any. it is a dead product no longer in production. 2. the Z130 while using a different chip has the same VR issues as the Z120. 3. all products are driven not by American consumers but by the Japan office. My comments 1. blaming the BT for the VR problems makes no sense since the problem also exist in the navigation system. 2. blaming the Sirius tuner for not having the station information for the presets makes no sense since the station information is on the scre
  12. what update? and yes it is software, it is that VR engine that starts and that is the software. it is not the mic that is the problem. all the delays and not understanding what is spoken, that is all software. and it can be updated if they want to. but if they have no incentive why do it. the shop can be blamed for continuing to sell the z120 when it seems the 130 does not have the problem. or maybe it does and i am not seeing the comments on it. but please do not think this is not a software issue.
  13. i have called tech support 4 times, i was never given an incident number, and talked to the installer a few times on this issue. the response seems to be to blame the Iphone. but what the Iphone has to do with the slowness of the whole system, the inability of the 120 to understand instructions for the NAV system as well as the phone, the horible voice that is used in the VR system compared to the one used in the NAV instructions. Even if it did understand a simple word like find POI, the delay to react to it is too long. by the time i get it to actually respond to finding a starbucks i have g
  14. the AVICFeeds app for the Iphone is really crap. i can't beleive that it will use a photo that is geo tagged but too stupid to us the contacts or phone book in the phone. actually the nav system in the Z120 should use the contacts on the iphone also as POI or destinations but doesn't. why not?
  15. when will the upgrade ever happen? i am amazed it is not an open system that would allow a real programmer to make changes to the code. i am still amazed the presets don't automatically put the station number in the line for Sirius. interesting is that a you tube video about the Z120 says it does show it for XM.
  16. it is just software so they should be able to add this feature. the question is what drives the product, the customer or the competition. the answer i got from tech support was, this is how every one does it. that is why we are 10 years ahead of everyone else on our product since all our competition uses is a stolen copy of our old product and we keep making it better just to make our customers happy. pioneer or some one in this business should think that way. how do we get them to?
  17. the Ok is supposed to be proof you read it but no one does. we used to put a 4x6 sticker over the opening of our packaging. you had to rip it to open the package. there was no way you could not see it and read it if you wanted to. an almost no one did read it. ok, so when someone would try to send back a unit with the 3 items listed on the sticker that voided the warranty we just said no. i agree that it is stupid to have the OK be there every time. there should be a way to turn it off after agreeing to whatever the message is for. yes, i have never actually read it. if i have i have no idea w
  18. on the Z120BT the preset should be showing the name of the station and not just a preset tag that tells nothing. for the SAT radio you have to remember 18 preset stations rather than seeing the name of the station? that makes no sense. what am i doing wrong that it is not picking up the station? no one could be that bad of a programmer to not have the station name in the preset.
  19. i think this is in the wrong forum? i thought it was going into the Z120BT forum. do you know how i can move it or should i just repost it?
  20. WOW! it is software so they could fix it if they wanted too. the question is how to get them to do it. sice it is only 3 days old, what would be a better unit?
