  1. Hello everyone! I'm new here and I wanted to ask you all a question before I make a purchase. Will this adapter http://www.newegg.co..._-pla-_-NA-_-NA work? I know the input of the cable goes into the back of the unit as I have installed it in my Scion Tc. I'm tired of my iPod adapter because, well, I do not like it. Also, I have an iPhone 5 and I don't want to use BT. Let me know! Thanks!

Edit: People in comments from Newegg say you have to activate aux in the Pioneer unit?

I don't know about the cable fitting, but it is not going to work for an iPhone 5 except as analog. First, if that cable could be used you would have to control all activities such as source, skipping etc from the iPhone. Second, there are no current adapters to go from the iPhone 5 to any output device, including analog audio out. However, you could use the earphone jack but I would bet that's as bad as BT you don't want to use. So you would have no song/artist information like with BT and no control which you have some of with BT.

  2. It's the future? Currently, it's nothing but a set back. The new all digital connector currently does less than the old 30 pin connector. How is that progress? Why would you upgrade to a phone to lose features? For us, this really sucks because now you can't get ipod or video out. As you said, it takes a lot of features away from our headunits and not only ours but any other vehicle that utilizes ipod out. For those that don't know, ipod out is the what allows you to control your music on your ipod/iphone from your headunit and have it display the audio data.

The bigger screen would be nice. LTE is the other only other upgrade that is worth mentioning but if you have Verizon i'd still wait since you still can't get voice and data at the same time. The camera has the same lense and sensor as the 4S. The pictures are no different. Taking pictures while video recording....I don't think this a feature that people would upgrade for.

From a 4S i still say wait for the "5S". From a technical point of view, it's simply just not worth it. Upgrade to iOS 6 and enjoy just about every "new" feature that they advertised while and keeping all the features of your headunit.

Many people think the upgrade just for the LTE is worth it. According to Venturebeat and Huffpost, the iphone camera is improved in several ways "'The camera snaps photos 40 percent faster, features a dynamic low-light mode (so pictures you take in dimly lit areas don’t suck) and enhanced spatial noise reduction, as well."

    Read more at http://venturebeat.c...sGQ8BCSM2r6A.99

Then there are the video improvements, "As for the video side of things, the iPhone 5 camera records in 1080p with improved video stabilization, face detection software, and the ability to take photos while you’re shooting a video."

    Read more at http://venturebeat.c...sGQ8BCSM2r6A.99

So faster picture taking, low light improvements, noise reduction for the camera, and the improved image stabilization for video. Doesn't seem like the same pictures to me.

Does IOS 6 include the new Panoramic feature or do you need to go with aftermarket for that?

And if you care, the front facing camera is much improved - a feature I don't care about.

In summary a faster processor and LTE are enough for me, the camera improvements are just gravy.

  3. I almost never had failures with VC for navi. It was iffy with iPod but worked fairly well as did voice dial. I feel that it is a fail that they removed it from the features of the unit. Interestingly enough Kenwood has done the same thing however with their 2012 units but theirs didn't work well at all for anything other then navi.

I wonder if it is to free up processor and memory? It is a little weird that they would remove a nice safety feature, considering that bypassing the lockout is easy and then people will type addresses in as they drive. Also, most newer cars have this as an option and Pioneer and the other manufacturers need to step up their game or there will not be a need for aftermarket.

  4. onefast96svt, he is talking about bluetooth not a cable. Try un-pairing and rebooting the iPhone, then repair. I've also had this happen on occasion, just the flaky Z130BT acting (ab)normally - no really, it's a feature.

onefast96svt, what does the DICE do for the 130? I know it was one of the product choices to connect my iPhone before I got the Z130, but what does it do with a 130? Is it just a cradle? I have one from proclipusa that works fine, but will be obsolete next week when my iPhone 5 arrives.

  5. My plan is to use my iPhone (3GS) as an iPod Touch and leave it in the glove compartment. Pandora has always been flaky and I just gave up on it long ago. I will use the bluetooth to listen to Pandora if the mood ever strikes me.

  6. Thanks to both of you for your help. The only issue I see is with the data cost of hotspots. I have the unlimited but limited anyway AT&T data plan, but if I use the hotspot ability I will lose the unlimited data plan. Changing to Verizon will also be a limited plan and more expensive with the now screwed up family sharing plans. Adding to the issue is that in my area only Verizon is LTE while AT&T is (we lie about it a lot almost 4G but not really) 3G+.

I will probably wait until the iPhone 5 (4GS?) comes out and decide then what I will get. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is on the short list.

Adding to this, I just bought a Google Nexus 7 Tablet, which is Wi-Fi only. I may just have to bite the bullet and get a Verizon 4G hotspot - damn, I need a personal shopper and research assistant just to use mobile internet.

  7. Hi, hope this isn't too redundant, I searched and got some of the info but I'm looking for a concise list of the pro's and con's to switching to a new Android phone vs my current 3GS on a Z130BT

I plan to use the 3GS as a iPod touch and may try hot-spotting the Android to get Pandora. What issues am I looking at if I change? What BT calling features would I lose? Does the Z130 get any album art etc from an Android over blue tooth?

    TIA

  8. I also have the problem when switching from Pandora to iPod - hopefully they will address that in a new patch soon. Also, I just updated Ah-Ah Radio with a description of fixes that said IOS5 and Pioneer. I have not had the chance to check it out yet. Hopefully this is one more step back to just complaining about the horrible GPS.

  9. Seems to be an issue with pause/play. They start out on pause and don't work when hitting play - most of the time. I did get Pandora to work when hitting the pause/play multiple times, but it wasn't consistent. With the speed at which Pioneer works, I'm not holding my breath.

Without Pandora, I would not have purchased this unit.

  10. Are you using Linux to load your SD card? The .go would be a hidden file in Linux. It is also possible you have a Windows program putting hidden data on the card and the Z130BT is seeing the hidden file which may contain ID tag data from whatever program your using.

In a PC go to control panel and folder options and select show hidden files. Then take a look at the SD card. In Linux open the card in the file system and hit ctrl+h to un-hide files. Delete any file with a "dot" beginning the file name and retry.

MAC's are also Unix based and the "dot" would be the same as the Linux system. Though I don't know how to un-hide them.

  11. I decided to take a look at the SD standards and it looks like the max capacity would be 32GB for SDHC. Above this size is SDXC which uses exFat, not FAT16 or FAT32. Here is one of the links I looked at for this info.

@RonS: I agree with that, I think putting some movies on the SD card might be its best use. I use a DVD for a lot of music because I think it sounds better with the Sound Retriever activated which is not available for the iPod/iPhone.

  12. So your using this connector linked in the first post instead of the included USB/Mini-Jack? So have you checked the "AV System Settings" which sets the source for AV1 and AV2(pg 170-171)? If that doesn't work you may need to use the included mini-jack from the USB/Mini-Jack and get CD-RM10 as shown on page 17 of the install manual. It seems to have a "special" mini-jack thus forcing you to buy from Pioneer.

    Good Luck

  13. Hi, which DVD's can be burned and used in the Z-130BT? It looks like the manual is suggesting DVD-R DL(Double Layer), but this is a very rare media and my burner will work with DVD+R DL as will most burners. Anyone tried using a DVD+R DL?

    TIA

  14. I found this on Tim Hortons website:

Poifriend.com will be permanently shutting down its website on June 30, 2011. As a result, Tim Hortons will no longer be able to offer its restaurant list in a downloadable format for GPS systems. To find a Tim Hortons restaurant near you, or to use our Trip Planner to find restaurants along your route, please visit our Restaurant Locator.

So they knew in advance, maybe there was a notice on the site before it was taken down.

  15. Hello, I'm new here and this is my first post. I just returned from the shop that did my install of the Z130BT three days ago and I had these exact same symptoms. I've also read this same issue in another thread and it was resolved the same way mine was. The installer hooked the sub up to the rear monitor outputs which meant no sub control and it would keep playing regardless of setting it to off in the Z130BT controls. Also, it would play only from the CD or ipod depending on which was selected in the rear output, verses mirror, av1, and av2 which had no output at all and therefore no sub. It was really weird to be playing the Stones on the iPod and then switch to Fleetwood Mac on CD and still hear the Stones on the sub.

This really sounds like the same issue. To be clear, the sub outs are physically apart of the back of the Z130BT and marked SWL and SWR and have a yellow RCA video right next to them - just for confusion. They are not on a harness. If you look at the pictures on Amazon, you can see the both the harness that was mistakenly used on mine, and the sub outs on the back of the unit.

It's been a couple weeks since your post, but maybe this will help others too.
