  1. You just need the specific iPod cable with the D3. Your old ipod adapter is not needed at all.
  2. I also have a Motorola Q but it's the Sprint version. My voice dialing(and everything else) works great. I even get my personalized ringtone from the phone as the ringer on the D3.
  3. I only know that it pauses my iPod playback when I receive a phone call. After the call it automatically switches back and resumes where it left off. It won't do this for satellite because there is no pause feature for either XM or Sirius modules. I'm fairly certain it will pause any pausable source though.
  4. If you unplug the data cable between the XM receiver and the radio this message will go away.
  5. I tested mine today and I am getting the name and number on mine.
  6. Maybe you should. My Q works flawlessly. It even plays the ringer from the phone when it rings. I am very happy with the Q and ecstatic that the bluetooth functions so well. Do you get voice prompts from the D3 with the Q when trying to use voice dialing (eg "Say a command")? Does the caller ID function work properly. My Q works great except for these two functions. Bluetooth audio even works, although you can't control it from the D3. I haven't tried either of those functions. I'll have to get back to you. The caller id works. I'm not sure if it correlates to the phonebook

  8. Just create a voicemail address book entry that dials the voicemail number for your phone carrier. It's just your phone number on Sprint. I'm not sure about other providers.
  9. The vehicle dynamics work in my '06 Zephyr and I did not hook up the VSS.
  10. Most likely is can bus. You don't need it to use it with the D3 anyway. Which radio are you installing?
  11. I have the GPS antenna on my dash and I get 5-6 bars most of the time.
  12. I have a D3 in my '06 Zephyr and the VSS is not needed. The NAV system is dead on with MPH and tracking.
  13. Your reply was in response to satellite radio. You are the one who brought bad credit into the conversation. Don't attempt to turn it around like you didn't say that. It seems a bit ridiculous to add an argument about monthly payments to a topic about RDS text. That was and still is my point.
  14. The assumption that a monthly payment for satellite radio is directly responsible to bad credit is absurd. Bad credit happens when a person over extends themselves beyond their means. I'm very happy for you and your old car and cheap ways. I however would rather live happy and having fun. If someone knocks down my house, I'll rebuild it.
  15. I definately agree that satellite is the way to go. I actually have both XM and Sirius. I also have over 7k songs on my iPod. I guess I'm addicted to music or something. LOL
  16. When I tried connecting a Terk XMD1000 w/Pioneer adapter and a DEI PNR-SIR1 at the same time the Sirius tuner would work for about 5 minutes then automatically switch over to XM.
  17. One more thing to note is that the Terk does not allow you to use both XM and Sirius modules at the same time. I realize most people don't care about this but it is important to note.
  18. I didn't connect my VSS and the speed reading from the D3 is exactly the same as my cars Speedometer.
  19. Have you tried using a $12 ground loop isolator? It basically plugs into a set of rcas and will create a ground loop that should isolate the noise.

    D3 vs. Z1

I chose the D3 because I have 7600 songs on my iPod so iPod integration was the most important factor for me. I also like the rotary volume control. BTW, if you push and hold the volume knob it mutes the radio. Also, you can use a remote with ATT and the BlueTooth adapter mutes for incoming and outgoing calls. I have no use for the HD in the Z1 so I can't speak to that. I haven't found the single drive of any inconvenience to me. If you calculate a route then remove the nav dvd, it stores the current route in internal memory. This allows you to play a CD/DVD and still have nav routing.
  21. That is good info to the OP. It sounds like the LS has the same type wiring as my Zephyr. The black/gray is also not the right wire on my car either. I still need to find an illumination source as well. I'll look at the ashtray light for that.
  22. Does the '01 LS have the silver dash? The link was provided to show him how to do it with the existing dash bezel. I assume he already knows how to use a wiring harness adapter. If he does have a black dash he could always buy the '03+ silver bezel and paint it flat black. It might not match 100% though. I'm kind of surprised there are no aftermarket dash kits for that type of install.
  23. Lots of info here: http://www.lincolnforums.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2515
