  1. Yes, ground it to a metal point in the dash somewhere. It sounds like your grounding in insufficient when the bypass is included. This should provide the necessary grounding without taking away from anything else.
  2. I would try grounding the bypass to a seperate ground than the radio. It sounds like the additional ground is pulling away from the other grounds.
  3. The antennas are mostly compatible. You will lose some repeater performance using a Sirius antenna for XM though. The power is most likely different
  4. Oddly enough, moving the antenna to the roof did improve the sound a bit. It sounds much less tinny now. It may just be a coincidence though. Either way, Sirius still blows it away.
  5. I have both XM and Sirius connected to a D3. The difference between XM and Sirius sound quality should be embarassing to XM. I have the Pioneer XM/NavTraffic tuner and a Sirius SIR-PNR1. The Sirius sounds so much better and it sounds much better than FM. If only the Sirius had the interface improvements like the XM tuner does.
  6. Looking at the pic and the info for that link it appears that this adapter is to allow using an antenna with dual outputs to go into one tuner, not one output into two tuners. The problem will be the wrong male/female connectivity. I talked to my brother(he works for Sirius) about this just now. He basically confirmed that the antennas will work with each service but the Sirius has a better range. He also stated that the XM terrestrial signal will not perform as well when using a Sirius antenna. The other issue is that you will have to block DC from one of the tuners or both of them wi
  7. So you are unplugging/plugging the single antenna from one receiver to the other each time you want to listen to the other service? -Jeff No, I have two antennas. They are both Sirius branded. I plan on installing the XM antenna that came with the XM tuner this weekend. I'll be installing it on the roof.
  8. I have heard that the Sirius antenna works for both(and I've used them for both services)but the XM antenna has problems with Sirius signals. I don't know of a way to share the connection though? Is there some type of y adapter available? I did not put my gps antenna on the roof. It is installed on the dash and I checked the signal strength and it was more than 2/3rds everytime I checked it. I currently have the XM antenna on the dash but I plan to put it on the roof this weekend. I am using a Sirius antenna for both services. I am not sharing one antenna though.
  9. Yes it works perfectly. As long as you use the Pioneer XM tuner(no turk products) and the Sirius PNR1 or PNR2. That is what I have installed in my car.
  10. You wouldn't need 20gig on a thumbdrive to store map data. The DVD is not 20 gig. You can get 12gb thumb drives here: http://www.pocketec.net/catalog.taf?f=mi&cat=tone&guid=27956820-A5DB-4635-81C6-57EFA09FD7C7 That should do the trick pretty nicely. I know the Garmin portables can use SD cards so why not? *** found this too *** http://www.pretec.com/epages/Store.storefront/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Store.Pretec/Products/%22News-Sept.%201%2C%202006%22 It appears that there are now several 16gb flash drives on the market. There is even one from Toshiba.
  11. Someone should figure out a way to use the Pioneer USB adapter and a thumb drive to store map data!
  12. I don't know about the Razor but on my BlackBerry the setting is "Trusted" and I have it set to yes.
  13. In order to auto connect I had to register my phone after pairing it.
  14. Press the physical menu button, there are not buttons on the screen until you "pair" a phone with the unit. Once you connect the phone you need to register it if you want it to auto connect when you get in/out of the car.
  15. The fix for that should be as simple as providing a 5-volt turn on lead instead of 12-volt. There are different ways of reducing the voltage but any decent stereo shop should be able to point you in the right direction.
  16. That's what I figured! Thanks. BTW, my brother works for Sirius. He is sending me a free PNR2. He was telling me that the PNR2 is a 4th gen product and that it changes channels quicker and has a few other behind the scenes tweaks. I'm still very amazed at the difference in sound between the XM and Sirius tuners.
  17. Hi guys, this is my first post. I just thought I would mention that this would only work for me with the Pioneer XM module. I have a SIR-PNR1 and a Terk XM module. I tried to hook them both up to my D3(which I installed on Tuesday this week) using the Terk control module for Pioneer. They both seemed to work when the unit was turned on but the Sirius tuner would only play for about 3-4 minutes then switch over to XM. I took the Terk Pioneer module back and replaced it with the Pioneer XM module with the NavTraffic and it has worked perfectly ever since. I also would like to menti
