1. Though I find the navigation speed disappointing in the iPod, I find that utilizing the Genre feature + random makes the add in module worth while as I just pick a genre and let it randomize.
2. I had an odd problem with my XM unit and no sound as well. The cables were hooked up right however even though the little yellow addendum in the manual states to NOT hook up the power to the navtraffic unit if using IPBUS it wouldn't work without it. Basically, I had to hook up power to the navtraffic bus for it to work properly.
3.

What does everyone think of the Kenwood unit with it's additional nav system add on. The nav system is made by Garmin so I would assume it's pretty nice. There is a japanese kenwood model that was at CS this year that is a double din unit but that isn't suppose to come out for a few years still. It was pretty sweet! Had nav system that used satellite maps like google.
Hey penny you talking about the Kenwood HDV-770 Car Navigation System I don't know if it wi
4. FYI, the alpine IVA-W200 is nice however a few notes: Screens are a very plain boring blue, just buttons and text really, not much for graphics iPod integration is awesome and REALLY FAST Cannot search GENRES via Alpine interface Bluetooth module is crap, it's considered a source via AINet, so if you are using your ipod and your phone rings, it won't ring through the stereo, you have to manually switch sources to the bluetooth unit and answer the call...really lame. Easily bypassed with a PAC TR-7
5. Ahh cool thanks. I've been out of the "scene" for a while. :)
6. One pulse at 5 seconds should be sufficient since it will fire on the 6th second. Have you metered it out?
7.
whats up guys. I have a quick noob question about the PAC TR7 unit. I don't know too much about car electronics so please bear with me. When the TR7 is programmed and connected properly, do i just leave it in the "ON" position or do i have to switch it off as soon as the motion security bypass works? TIA
The switch must be in the "off" position. "On" is only for programming.
8. Switch your trigger wire to positive switched (red I believe.) Whats your timing set at?
9.
That is a GREAT idea. Best I have heard actually. Won't work with the places that won't install it unless you buy it from them, but it will work for all the other installers that maybe won't want to do the install, but would accept your box already purchased. Would a more experienced installer that has already done a few AVIC-Z1 installs notice the difference right away? What do you suppose would happen then?
Just tell him its an illum adapter for your car since your illum wire is pulsed and the unit wants constant.
10. Easiest thing to do would be to install the mod on the harness BEFORE giving it to the shop. They'll just think it's part of the device. Since ducatiboy kept the wiring the same colors the only thing they'll be confused about is the white input wire, either label it "illum" or get a highlighter or get some orange wire and fuse it to the white and tape off the white section so they can't see it, then tape it up all nice and neat and give it to them for install.
11. hehe yeah I just saw that and came back here to edit my post...but of course, you were on top of it. ;) Sorry JasonH, wasn't trying to steal your thunder!
12. It's missing a lot of cars/models, but its a start: http://www.rostra.com/techsupport-main.asp
13. Yeah I put this in the FAQ cause I think it's confusing too since the IP bus is a two way communication device. It's odd that it still controls the ipod and shows your songs when backwards.
14. I could be wrong, but I think elevation is one of the guages you can set on the guage screen.
15. That would be funny....and quite possible....I've noticed many people refer to a customized circuit a "relay" even though its not. Also, I should have said inferior rather than cheaper...I guess I just few mechanical as a last resort to solid state.
16.

If there is a "better" way, I would love to hear about it.... we all would.
Well, to be honest, I have no idea exactly what was done, it was done without me asking, when I had them install it, I didn't even think about it until I went to pick it up, I asked the installer, and he said it was bypassed, he said that he made a relay using about $30 in parts...it cost me nothing...it's just what they did, BUT, I mentioned this site as I had read some of this previously, and he said he was aware of it... What I DO know is that my lights DONT flash and
17.
Actually, you're both wrong, I don't touch ANY switches, nor do I lose ANY functionality...I'm not doubting that you're little flasher thing works, but the relay I have works flawlessly, and has NOTHING to do with the lights, and you must be mistaken about the internal motion sensors, either that, or this relay takes that into account...Hate to break it to you, there's a better way.

I don't know about flicking lights, or circuit boards, or soldering, but the guys who work on my car made a relay to bypass everything...He sai
18.

I must say I have been a victim of this also. My camera is acting up also. It goes in and out. What is up with this camera?
You guys tried e-mailing pioneer or calling them about this? I found them to have very good customer service and fast when responding to e-mails.
I haven't yet...I dread customer service calls....I think Dell has done this to me.
19. CHemi: The specs on the camera are great, the viewing angle is amazing, the only downside (when it's working) is it doesn't handle direct light very well. You get a huge solar flare on the screen. However mine is failing by fading in and out. The night view is grainy but the reverse lights give the cam just enough light for the cam to give a good image. When the reverse lights are off (in tow mode) the pic is a little dark but still usable. I now believe the problem to be related to water as the problem began when we started having severe storms a few weeks ago and now that the weather is
20. Stay away from the Pioneer camera, myself and another member installed it and both are failing already after 2 months.
21. Is that # specific for bluetooth or a generic Pioneer #? I'd like to call and complain about my rear cam.
22. I have a RAZR and the ringer does come through the Pioneer's speakers. Who is your mobile carrier? Is it the V3 or V3c? Rev 1 or 2?
23. Damn, well I guess it's time to call Pioneer.
24.

Funny, if you bought the Pioneer one, mine stopped working this week too, about 2 months after I installed it. I've checked all my connections, it just seems to be a crappy camera. Mine comes back alive every now and again.
Well that sucks! Have you warrantied it and the new one works?
I have not done warranty exchange yet, the camera "came back alive" yesterday and hasn't gone out again so I'm gonna triple check my connections to make sure I didn't miss anything. Just seems odd that it's going in and out.
