  1. I have an iphone4 so I can't speak to the 5. Did you install the appradio app from the appstore and launch it?
  2. Been a member since the avic-z1 days and even posted the first bypass instructions on pulsing the illumination wire (I didn't discover it, read it on the12volt, but just happened to be the first to relay the info here.) Been inactive for quite a while but checked in to see what tricks were available for my z110. Read in the instructions and followed them without issue other than the "radio error" so I disconnected the msn traffic receiver and all was good to go. I must say the appradio feature is far more valuable, to me anyway, than the map updates. It's like an entirely new head unit and far
  3. Checked the connections again. All is ok but still no xm. Also updated to latest firmware. Anyone?
  4. Cables are in correct order. Unit was working fine, then just stopped.
  5. All, Intalled my z120 yesterday with MSN, HD radio tuner and xm920 module. All was working fine, XM and HD Radio. Today randomly the XM went out. I pulled the XM module out and disconnected it. HD radio comes back. I swapped the 920 module with my old 10xmt module, same issue, HD Radio disappears. Unplug it HD radio comes back. Here's the odd part, if I just plug in the IPBUS cable to the xm module, HD radio stays on screen, as soon as I attach power to the xm module (either 920 or 10xmt) the HD Radio and XMRadio icons disappear. In none of the scenarios does XM show up anymore. Do I have
  6. Thanks! Attached is the nzb for anyone who's interested. z3_2009.zip
  7. From everything I've seen, nothing. You should be able to hook it up and have decent functionality. What I find interesting, is with an optional cable you can hook your ipod up to this device. I wonder if it navigates faster than the primary ipod adapter. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130CDUB100 ... ailed_info *edit* actually, according to some of the reviews it only displays 8 characters http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130CDUB100 ... tab=review I can't tell though it those are screen based units or single din non-nav units. But for $30, it's worth a try.
  8. Thanks. I took the whole dash frame off and it still won't open. looks like I'll need it serviced.
  9. Just curious if anyone else has had problems with the motorized screen not coming down? I really wasn't too concerned at first as I never use the dvd drive (mainly listen to XM and iPod) but I now want to do the z3 upgrade. Before I yank the unit and send it in for warranty I thought I'd ask if anyone else has any suggestions for troubleshooting. The screen will occassionally work, but for the most part pushing eject yields nothing.
  10. I have a Z2 installed in multiple vehicles. Both are running what's called Simple Mode with no VSS. The only issues I have is when I am going up an down the hills where I am located, my position is off the road due to sat signal loss. With the following observations stated... Question: With the VSS connected it is only going to simulate your driving based on the last position in a straight line and your speed, if you make a turn the VSS does not help you. Would this be a true statement? Thanks. The unit has a gyroscope built into it so it can detect turns, uphills, down hillis, s
  11. this sounds like a pretty good idea..please post your results! thanks! You should replace it with text that says "LoJack Tracking..." lol.
  12. If you are somewhat technical, this really isn't that hard. In addition, when this method came out, the upgrade DVD's were extremely hard to come by.
  13. btw, you *might* be able to find an adapter for it here: http://www.pc-mobile.net/gpsant.htm I *think* its this one http://www.pc-mobile.net/gacb2x.jpg but by no means take my word for it. Confirm the connector before buying.
  14. According to this thread: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/gps/753 ... nna-2.html it can be done how you mentioned, but you will kill some onstar functionality unless you splice them together...and I have no idea if that would even work.
  15. Maybe I missed something, but unless you did the HD image upgrade I thought the update disc was indeed needed for the bypass to work...
  16. Maybe I'm missing something or didn't read thouroughly but why are you guys removing the HD from the plate? I just left it attached to the plate and hooked the IDE cable directly to the back of the drive...
  17. Theres another thread floating around here in which a member performed tests with several different hard drive makes. It was to try and figure out why the units were rebooting with some upgraded hard drives. At first the theory was the larger drives had too much current draw. But unless I'm mistaken I believe his test proved the issue was the unit confirms that the installed drive is a toshiba make. It does its first check around the 60 minute mark and then subsequent checks every 15-20 mins, so it would be an expensive test if it failed.
  18. just another confirmation here. I loaded up the z2 hd image onto my unit, did the 2 wire bypass, then updated with the latest pioneer update. No probs with the bypass.
  19. Thanks for all who contributed to these instructions. I was able to get it all working on the first try. It took about two hours, mostly to unlock and restore the image. I also created a bootable CD-Image ISO out of the MHDD disk as the one PC I have that has IDE didn't have a floppy. Don't know if this was already done so sorry if this is a dupe but for those without floppy drives you can use the attached image to use a CD-ROM to disable security features on the drive instead.
  20. FYI, I've also received several PM's from various members who purchased this TR7 module and received my instructions verbatim to bypass units other than the Z1. Whats the sellers alias? I need to send him a message to let him know he is sending out false info.
  21. That ebayer copied my tr7 instructions from the avic-z1 forum verbatim: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=143 I wrote those instructions a long time ago when the original z1 bypass was first discovered, and later a software update made the bypass even simpler without the need for TR7's. My instructions were never intended for an avic-n1, nor do I have any knowledge of how an N1 is bypassed, but from my understanding the illum wire bypass was only ever implemented in the avic-z1 original model by pioneer. I would ask the ebayer for your money back.
  22. Go to "Safe and Sound" in manassas, by far the best car electronics installation team I've ever dealt with.
  23. FYI, for anyone thats familiar with newsgroups I've attached NZB's for the image to this post. *edit* my apologies. my original submission, avic.zip, was missing some of the files. Their are now two attachments to this post. If you downloaded avic.zip, you can download "missing.rar." Its an nzb containing the missing files. If you need the entire download, grab avicZ2image.rar.
