I was having the same problem. Do you have the bose system? Make sure you are hooked up to the amp

Yea check the mute. I had this problem while testing before putting it into the dash.

For my silverado it is the pink to the blue/white.

On my GM Harness the pink wire turns the amp on and off for the bose system. While searching for my problem i seen a lot of posts with your problem, left un-answered. Maybe take it to a professional installer.
