  1. I tend to think that the ultimate car deck is going to be an android powered deck itself. The Appradio deck software seems to have been written by children. Having said that it's still seems the best option out right now for connecting Android phones. Least it will be when they update the app so I can start using my 4.1 Nexus with it again. lol Sadly even with a 1000 dollar bounty on XDA to create an app that would give the Appradio full control over the phone there have been no takers (yet) And personally I think the best option is to throw out the deck os itself and put on android. I am
  2. yah, sounds like your bypass isn't done properly. I have a toggle switch that I flip when I have to.
  3. Double click the home button to get a small popup that allows you to change songs. There is no usb music on this thing. It should be added as its ridiculous to be forced to plug in a phone or ipod just to listen to any music. It's my number one gripe with this deck. My nexus has 4.1 on it and is no longer compatible at all, Ihad to borrow an ipod just to be able to listen to music until Pioneer fixes the 4.1 issue. My usb is plugged into the deck to charge the phone so I haven't run into some of the problems your mentioning. Maybe it was a good thing I choose that route. Hdmi out i
  4. Yup, could have sworn it was there before.
  5. Funny, cause it's not here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POCEN/Car/AppRadio/AppRadio+Compatible+Devices
  6. Just got off the phone with Pioneer Canada support. What a mess, the phone numbers they listed to call don't even go to Pioneer. Some poor guy venting his frustration at getting Pioneers calls. I was able to find some other numbers to try. He didn't know that 4.1 was just updated and the deck was no longer working with the phone but said he'd pass along my concerns. I am supposed to get a call back with what he finds out, but I won't hold my breath... They never answered my emails when I sent them. I don't expect them to fix it 5 minutes out of the gate but I do want some assurance they ar
  7. It will be interesting to see if they are just going to install the updated firmware I already have on the unit or if there something new happening.
  8. I know, but Visions was told to do it by Pioneer. And I am not in any hurry so I'll play along... Needed to go down there anyways to spend some money.
  9. I just received a call from visions where I bought my deck. They are having me come in so they can do a firmware update that will fix a problem with the back up camera. I guess it's locking up and has caused some accidents so they are getting the distributors to do the firmware update. I will be signing off that they did the work so they can send the paperwork back to Pioneer. I hadn't installed my camera yet so haven't seen the problem myself.

  11. You need to press the white dots on the deck itself to calibrate it. Once you do that then the app should fire up.
  12. LOL I made a major oops. Forgot I unplugged the usb power. End result is no change. I can do the touch setup but then there is no touch control after that. No worries tho, I can live with it until JB becomes official (next week or some such). Once its out you'd think Pioneer will have to update the app otherwise the Nexus will no longer be officially compatible.
  13. I get absolutely nothing now. The phone still connects via bluetooth, but plugging in the mhl connector gives me nothing. I killed and re-installed the app and still nothing. What's weird is I couldn't even get the deck to just play the mhl feed, flipping the ebrake switch did nothing.
  14. I was running into a huge mobile data consumption problem on 4.0.4, JB solved it and the added features are awesome! I might be more tempted to go back if I didn't have an ipod for music. I just asked around for a used one and kept trying until I found one free that worked. Its a 2gb ipod mini, though I am working on getting a 16gb ipod video for next to nothing. Apple will never see another dime of my money, the sooner they perish the better far as I am concerned...
  15. Looks like it needs to be part of a modified kernal, the stock one doesn't allow it. So if you're willing to swap out the stock one for a after market kernal your good to go.
  16. The problem lies is that the phone must see the two data pins of the USB connector shorted together to recognize a charger as a high capacity (1A) charger. The MHL adapter is using the data pins for it's output so there is no way for the phone to identify a high capacity charger is connected to it. The phone itself regulates the charge at .5amp, if you try to manipulate the cable you defeat the mhl. However that being said it might be possible for the os to be tricked to take a 1amp charge whenever it can. Got to spend some time on XDA doing some research.
  17. Picked up a used ipod for cheap (free) that works with the deck. Seems the best of all worlds. Now I only have to plug in the phone when I want to use an actual app. Phone and music no longer require being tethered to my phone. It's a good thing to, as appradio when from being non responsive to constantly rebooting itself. I had to force kill it. J4.1 is so nice though I can wait...
  18. Did some rating myself. There is so much potential with this deck, but there is a lot of work needed to make it worth the asking price.
  19. That's just awesome! Got to love dollar an hour call centres.
  20. I am running into the same thing on mine with 4.1. Love 4.1 so I am not going back to ics, and will just deal around this for now. I can do the finger calibration but it doesn't recognise finger presses after that. Video and music play just fine. BT phone works fine. For now I just set it up so that when I plug it in the music auto starts. My long term goal is to find a used ipod that I can plug in for a permanent music solution, then just plug in my phone when I want to access apps.
  21. Where did you email? I tried once and never got a reply back.
  22. Torque http://torque-bhp.com/ is already looking into it. Hopefully we can have a decent priced OBD2 app soon... Now to start sending messages to every other dev I would prefer to use...
  23. Just make sure you get a MHL adaptor that also has a usb connection as well as the hdmi. I bought this one for my Galaxy Nexus and it works great. I run a usb cable from the decks usb connection to the mhl cable so you don't see it, but you could also run from a usb charger.
