1. Make sure the adapter you connected to the Z1 has all the wires connected. It's not enough to just connect the Motorola end to the HU. If there is an extra blank wire I'm most certain that it needs to connect to power. If it needs power, you can connect it to the HU's antenna remote 'blue' wire. I use the blue wire of the HU to turn on my amp and power my antenna (I have a Honda and the antenna is amplified). Hope this helps.
2. If you are interested in the iPod adapter, the Pioneer store has it. Here is a link. I've bought from the Pioneer store and they don't lie about inventory and they ship quick.
3.
Just received mine from Pioneer today.
Cool...very easy to install. The most time consuming part was taking the HU out of the dash. The unit just plugs into the HU connector that says "tel". Enjoy the adapter...I'm glad you were able to get it from Pioneer...I wonder who else benefitted?
4. Okay folks, I got the BT adapter from Pioneer last Friday (only took a week to deliver). I installed it on Monday and I've been messing with it ever since. For all of those that have had this installed I now understand why it is in such demand. This thing works great. I still need to learn how to say phone numbers so that the Z1 can understand...it seems to jumble up the numbers using VC. For those still waiting on this adapter, keep checking the Pioneer Store. I stumbled on the the item while browsing. Does anyone have any pointers using the VC for dialing phone numbers?
5. The only problem I can see is if the "dealer" you purchased from on eBay is not an "authorized" dealer. Pioneer may make a stink of this issue. There are many consumers that get inticed by the cheap prices on eBay and issues like these are the risks people take with the cheaper prices...caveat emptor.
6. There are complaints out there but once you figure out how to setup your playlists, it really is much easier to navigate. I have mine set up with playlists for artists A-B, C-D, E-F, etc...you get the picture. I only really listen to a few and with the iPod there is a playlist of frequently played and I just select that option.
7.
But you still have to wait for her to finish speaking before you can give the command right? I was pretty sure I tried that as her voice makes the voice command system almost completely useless to me.
Yup...you have to wait for the VC icon to switch from 'X' to )).
8. I have Samsung t809 from T-Mo and it works...at least the phone does. I have not tried transferring data yet. We'll see how that turns out. UPDATE: transferring data works!! It's one-by-one but it works. UPDATE: I was wrong, it can transfer your whole phonebook (of course there is a limit of 400). This is great!!!!!
9. Thanks for the reply Skicrave. I think I connected to the wrong wire initially. I was getting numbers in the thousands...I had all the bars lit up. I rewired it and the numbers are much less.
10. Update: Moved VSS lead to a different wire now the pulse readings are much lower...basically a pulse is generated after I exceed approx. 40mph. Before, the reading were very, very high. Hopefully I picked the correct wire this time.
11. What kind of numbers should I expect from the Speed Pulse?
12. Just installed the VSS wire to the VSS of my car. The Z1 is detecting pulses. I also received a message telling me that the Z1 is receiving "irregular" signals and to "verify installation" and "reboot" then click OK. I checked my install and everything looks good. Has anyone come across this issue? Thanks in advance for your help.

editing cd's
When I try to edit a cd that has been recorded and did not have the name put in for me the buttons are grayed out. How do you edit the info? I have read the book and go right to where I should be but once there I can do nothing.
Have you upgraded the to the latest Grace Note data base? If not, I would suggest doing that first; that may save a lot of editing.
14.
My escalade was stolen, someone from chicago thought it would be fun to give me a fake check for my car and strip it completely.
Your story surprises me since you mentioned that you renew cars and sell them. I would've have thought you would not have been taken by a "fake" check. I do some selling on fleebay and for transactions not involving PayPal, I always wait for checks to clear before I make delivery of the item. With a car I would be even more careful. Good luck with your new install.

A Few Questions
I bring my Garmin Ique3600 sailing & it keeps a trip log and leaves breadcrumbs where I've been in the sound.
The Z1 does have a "trace" feature...similar to your bread crumb analogy. But, no trip computer.
16. Well, I took the plunge and got it from Pioneer. According to the UPS tracking number it should arrive on Monday...good thing I have the day off; that thing will be in before Tuesday. BTW in my local area, they are all out of the stock...it's really a crap shoot at this point.
17.
Just look for the green add to cart button. If you can add it to your cart, then that store has them in stock.
Not completely true. I did just what you described, when I got to the store the item was no where to be found. The car stereo "speicalist" in that department even told me that they don't carry that item...go figure. I've realized many of these "big box" stores do not have a good handle on their individual store's inventory. What's worse is the workers there do not even know what they are selling...the guy at CC thought it was for XM...clueless.
18. The directions stated not to create folders...just burn the files onto the disk.
19. I got a tracking number as well...can't wait to install it.
20. Mine still states "shipped" but the area where a tracking number should be is blank...makes me wonder...hopefully Pioneer fulfills their orders.
21. Well...if you're not comfortable taking the HU from the dash I would suspect installing the Ducatiboy unit is the least of your worries. Hopefully you find someone willing to do the install for you. I know it's possible because some users have had success with having the units installed. Too bad I live in the west coast because I would've been glad to help you.
22. How comfortable are you with taking the Z1 out of the dash? This is where the main question should lie. If you can do that, then I would suggest that you install the Ducatiboy unit yourself. If you have knowledge in crimping wires (soldering is better but that requires more work) that's the pretty much the skill you will need to install the unit. Hope this helps.
23.
As all that it does is flash the lights automatically, nothing is done to the Z1 itself and nothing can harm it or even be traceable if it had to be taken in for repairs.
Well that is not exactly what it does. It does not flash the lights at all...it makes the Z1 think the lights were flashed. As for the install goes...very simple I believe most people will have more problems removing the HU from the dash. The actual install of the Ducatiboy unit (after finding all the wires) should take less than 30 mins.

D1 vs Z1 ?
Well if I put in a Z1 I will bolt it down so tight they'll need a chainsaw to pull it out. :D But first they'll have to get by the new alarm system that's going in. Anyone know how to install an automatic stun gun :?: :?:
In my past experience of having my car stolen, if the theif wants it bad enough, they will get it. The worst thing you can do is "deter" the theif so much that you piss them off and they break the beautiful LCD of the Z1...trust me if they can't get it out they will do something to make you wish you let them have it. The way I solved
25.
I ordered mine from Pioneer last night (7/18/06) and today it is showing 'Shipped' (and I canceled my backorder from Crutchfield today). Final cost including taxes & shipping = $136.10. Just checked today at 4:20pm Eastern and the button to order this item is now missing.
It's good to hear someone else benefitted. Anyone else? I guess it's a good idea to check the Pioneer Store periodically. I also purchased the IR remote in the past and it is no longer available.
