  1. hmm, this is smelling like a wiring issue then. Either my ignition relay is on fritz or I have a connector poorly connected. Will investigate this weekend. Thanks to those who have responded thus far! Cheers
  2. Yes, my unit is a February 2007 manufactured AVIC-Z2 with no physical modifications (including changing or unlocking of hard drive). Unit was installed by myself in June with no modifications (removal / wire changes) since installation or subsequent to patch. 2-wire bypass has been working flawlessly.
  3. I posed this issue under the main Z2 patch thread, the response being this is normal system response to "excess vibration". Since I have applied the update I notice the system self reboot several times a week. This AM I finally confirmed it can happen with no vibration (vehicle motion) whatsoever. Approximately 3 minutes after car was started the system just rebooted before I started to drive. I've heard from at least 1 other person that this seems to be a new issue since patch. Has anyone else noticed more frequent "self reboots" of their Z2 post patch? Perhaps this issue existed pre
  4. Clocked 750 miles since I patched my Feb07 Z2, still working like a charm! My 2 wire bypass held up the test of time
  5. Tell it to the judge.... Pioneer has a big heart (and small anti-piracy group) -- hopefully
  6. Hmm, does anyone know where to find (legit) copy of WM CE 5 Automotive Edition (which I believe is the OS in Z2)? Through my technet subscription, I can only find WM CE 5.0 emulators etc, but no automotive SDK / edition. I want to load the Pioneer platform to my PC to look for breakpoints on the warning messages. This should be a more surmountable task then trying to find the bypass in the same manner. Would be nice to identify some hex patches...
  7. I have a few times. There's a few possibilities: 1- Vibrations lock the hard drive, and to regain access the system reboots itself 2- Loose wires in the back (fix that ASAP) 3- System too hot (though it should stay off for a few minutes with a high-speed fan running if this is the case, not quickly reboot) So this has happened prior to the update for you? Cool if thats the case. Going to gambit its vibration and not heat, since temps where mild yesterday and wiring is soldered / firm. Thanks!
  8. Has anyone experienced a system rebooting on its own while driving? Yesterday I ran the update and everything worked like a charm. Today my wife said the system rebooted itself while she was driving. She didn't touch it, it was on XM Radio at the time. Subsequently, there seems to be no impact since it still appears bypassed. So more a curiosity at this point, since it had never done that before the update. Cheers
  9. Got my Grant for the hard work! Confirmation Number: 7CC6077328796463D
  10. So, we finally got a bypass going here! GREAT! Fortunately, this was low hanging fruit since Pioneer served it up on a platter. Thank goodness! Now, something which will require some ingenuity will be to bypass the 2 [explicative] dialogs warnings that the Z2 is dangerous to your health and those around you. Does anyone have observations to share regarding these? If someone amongst us had a test environment to run the code in with breakpoints set at the dialog event, it might be a simple fix; like inserting a "NOOP" where the "JMP" is - no knowledge of the source code is necessary.
  11. Great job Hyperite & [insert name(s) here]! Where do we send our Paypals? Seems we have a bounty to fulfill here! Sure sure, we could send it to Pioneer [cough], but the folks on this board tirelessly tested the hell out of this and confirmed a working solution for us all. Time for a new challenge! Let's hack the warning dialogs out of the system! Cheers, Atreides
  12. No, I have a Feb 07 Z2 unit unfortunately. Since a number of folks here and about already have a Jun 07 image, I anxiously await confirmation here as many do if it actually is bypassable or just a rumor.
  13. Guess that depends where you live... In Northern New Jersey, I picked mine up at 6th Avenue Electronics. Can always go to the Pioneer website and do a dealer search there by area. Cheers
  14. Hyperite, have you tried the brake flash x times on boot yet? I would be trying this too but my truck is in the shop for other reasons... Get it back by next Monday, so can assist at that point... Cheers
  15. Probably would be best to stick to the main thread on the forums for this topic: Bypass AVIC-Z2 --> http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5420
