  1. yes these are interesting results so far.. i'm anxiously awaiting the rest as well. For now I'm running on the stock drive -- but if we find a great 7200rpm drive that works (preferably with the same temperature rating specs) -- then I'm all for upgrading!
  2. sounds like your reverse sense wire on the back of the unit is stuck in one state (the reverse state)... do you have a rear-view camera installed?
  3. You got PM! As soon as I get the image, I'll do some testing on the Z1 image on a few drives to get a better idea of what's going on. BTW - noticed you're in Canada... which part? ok sounds good! I'll rar and start the UL tonight. It sounds like 1 or 2 people have got the z2 image working on certain drives -- so it will be interesting to see what happens with the z1 image. I'm in Ontario -- Toronto area...
  4. Rage: I got a backup image from my Z1 -- so it's not a fresh image but if you want it I could upload it somewhere if you would like.. dodgeboy: is that toshiba drive running the Z2 image?
  5. fujitsu MHV2040AH also exhibited the same reboot problem.... unlocked and reused the stock toshiba drive to put the z2 image on.. works flawlessly.
  6. So I just imaged my original Z1 drive and then stuck the new Z2 image on that.. Everything is working perfectly -- no rebooting like when I was using the 40gig Fujitsu drive! excellent...
  7. Hyperite is right.. You do get the audio cutting out for a brief moment... Nonetheless -- I was thinking along the same lines that it could be power related.. But that begs the question why a 5400rpm drive would cause the issue while a 4200rpm would not, even if they have the same power specs? However, perhaps it is just the max specs that are the same and not the typical case power numbers. I'm guessing the motor that spins faster will draw more current -- so I think it's a good guess! Let's keep trying stuff and see what happens! Can you even buy 4200rpm laptop drives for cheap? My
  8. That's really interesting... Given that people have had a lot of issues with other HDs -- maybe I'll just use my original Z1 HD, wipe it, and stick the Z2 image on that! I might have better luck going that way.. I just figured I'd stick a new HD in there and get a bit more space and maybe increase my music partition while I'm at it (which I have not done, yet). It's strange that it reboots -- I could see that happening if the drive you were putting in required more power than the Z1 stock HD.. But any of these HDs people seem to have used (including the fujitsu I am using) are either the
  9. mickey, yeah my drive is a fujitsu 40gb also... i thought my issue was solved but I went on a long drive today to the niagra area in new york and it started to happen again.. i disabled the locking on the drive before I put it in the system.. i wonder if the new z2 software has issues with drives with security disabled? or perhaps it just doesn't like fujitsu drives for some reason? it's very strange.. it's not a wiring issue or shock -- my z1 has always worked flawlessly and i never started to see this issue until i upgraded my unit with a new HD with the fresh Z2 image on it. i'v
  10. as far as I know, there is no easy way to do this.. You need to do a reset (consult the manual page on resets -- i think it might be a level 3 -- and that clears out the bluetooth info).. pioneer should have thought through that one a bit more!
  11. Many thanks to magnum, donkey, et al for this image.. Just put it on a 40gig HD I had around -- works just fine... I had one strange issue where the system would seem to 'reboot' itself a bunch when I was driving.. My cell phone was still paired with the bluetooth unit on the avic and that seems to have caused the issue. As soon as I deleted the pairing on my cellphone which was there from my original z1, the issue stopped happening... seems like everything is operational! great stuff! thanks everyone!
  12. I'm seein' parts 3,4,5,6,7 -- seems like they are up and complete.. just not seeing the first couple parts at the moment... looks promising though.. i'm getting pretty good dl rates! it will be fun to try and stick this image on my Z1!!
  13. I go with the glove box -- nice way to keep it concealed too...
  14. you'd think with the color coding and all it wouldn't be as frequent... ;)
  15. So will we be able to upgrade our z1s to a z2 via software update?
