Agreed. One point of note and this is for people that have been forced to use my fixes. If you have had to do the Fromat MBR fix (like I did back when I bought this used unit that was completely bricked) you are loading a copy of someone elses complete avic. I believe this affects your device number now, so numerous poeple all have the same device number.

Navy Mike... thats what I do for the most part as well. Then if I want to use my iphone say for listening to new music streamed through itunes to iphone I use the front a/v port. But I can understand that people want to dock their iphones instead and are now curious.

pioneer will not make a cable for video. Id think about permanetely keeping old iphone and use it as an ipod and leave it permenately connected.

The adapter will transfer data, so if you have the a/v cables plugged in through the headphone jack and the 30 pin to lightening adapter plugged in we should be all set for audio support in our car. Granted that the iphone 5 plays nice with the avic which may not be the case. The reducing of the pin connector got rid of AV through pin connector. It will still I believe pass information for song playing and can still connect AV cable for sound video

wait till 2 weeks from now when ios6 is out before you do anything drastic. My iphone 4s running ios6 works fine BUT you have to have music downloaded onto the unit. It struggles when streaming music.
