1.
I finally got it to work using Nero. I made several sized images and the one that went to all edges of the screen for me measured 2592 (width) by 1305 (height) pixels with a resolution of 300 PPI.
Why don't you post some of those pictures up here for us for us to use as templates or something so we get an idea of what works.
  2.

Sorry, it's something I didn't realize till yesterday either. If your parking brake IS connected you need to release the parking brake before turning on your car. If your parking brake is set (ie grounded) and you start the car, the flashing thing WILL NOT WORK. You have to release the parking brake before flashing the lights. I have heard reports that once it's flashie-thinged if you use your parking brake later in your trip you could deactivate the cool flashie-thing. So the best thing to do if you plan on doing the flashie-thing
  3.

All the units use 500x240.
Are you sure, beacause the Z1 is the only one with a 7" screen.
I wouldn't be surprised. It's not uncommon for one device to have a 6.5 inch screen and one to have a 7 inch screen and both have the same resolution. That happened with me and a camera, my mom has the cannon SD400 with the 2 inch screen and I got the SD550 with the 2.5 inch screen (both situations are 0.5 inch difference but with the digital camera going from 2 to 2.5 inches is a much bigger % difference). And both screens were t
  4.
So, lemme get this straight... If your parking brake IS connected and you use it (that is, the PARKING BRAKE - as I have a 6 speed), do you need to RELEASE the parking brake BEFORE starting the car (and flashing the lights) for the bypass to work, or leave the parking brake SET (ie: grounded) and start the car, do the flashy-thing, then release the parking brake to drive. This is getting confusing now... Rick
Sorry, it's something I didn't realize till yesterday either. If your parking brake IS connected you need to release the parking brake b
  5.
does your pcb fix the nav and dvd playback?
Actually Pioneer allowed playback of DVD's and full function of the nav system if you flash you head lights. Something they either programmed into this unit on purpose or it was a mistake on their part and they left that functionality in by accident. I made a circuit which would tell your head unit that you flashed your headlights when you turn on the car. So I'm not really "fixing" anything. My PCB will flash your lights for you. I did notice that after flashing my lights when starting the car, I could do ev
  6.
This weekend I will be rewiring some stuff in my car and I will disconnect the pbrake wire and let it float. I'll report back on the results and whether or not it gives the pbrake warning message when it's not connected. I can't imagine it will since its the same as leaving your parking brake off.
I believe that once you see that parking brake warning, you will see it forever untill you reset your unit.
  7.
Also, it says my parking brake is disconnected when the bypass is enabled although it is always grounded.
Really? I just tried it, grounding the parking brake and the headlight trick doesn't work. Are you sure that parking brake line is connected to ground? Maybe there is more to this whole parking brake thing than I thought. Or maybe by having it grounded all the time, if you don't flash your headlights do you see the "warning your parking brake is not connected properly" message?
  8.
OK NOW I AM CONFUSED....YOU SAID TO CONNECT MY PARKING BRAKE WIRE LIKE THE MANUAL SAYS...... AND THEN YOU SAID DONT TOUCH IT... THAT I COULD LEAVE IT FLOATING. I AM GOING RIGHT NOW TO HAVE THE INSTALLER RECONNECT MY PARKING BRAK AND THE ILLUM WIRE .....
Well owning an automatic, and not fully testing these things on more than my car has me confused too. Sorry for the learning curve. I'm learning the ins and outs of this as you all are too. There are bound to be confusion and growning pains. And you don't have to SHOUT, we can all hear you. I
  9.
Also, Ducati boy....did I read correctly that I CAN connect my parking brake wire normally so I can avoid the "unhooked" message at startup......and still get the bypass to work once I get my ILLUM wire connected??
Yes, I would recommend to keep the parking brake connected like it says in the instructions to avoid a possible "not connected properly" message. Then flashing your lights with the illumination line connected properly will bypass everything. Don't even touch your parking brake.... you can leave it "floating" not connected to anything, and j
  10. The first 17 shipped. The next run will ship out Most likely monday or tuesday, so far, everyone who paid me is in for that second run. If you paid by "echeck" and it didn't clear yet you were "bummped" to the second run (paypal said it would not clear till monday anyway). So one person who thought they were in the first run and paid by echeck didn't get it yet.... sorry.
  11.
This is true, I didn't think about that, however pulsing the unit again after it's already been bypassed doesn't hurt the unit or the state of the bypass either, so it should still work. My only reason for attaching it this way is you can get more consistent timing since you only get one pulse out of the pac-tr7.
Yah, I don't know about the PAC units, but if you have them hooked up via the AMP line and you "turn off the audio on your radio" you might not get "dimming" features when you turn your head lights on. I know you won't with my circuit. Not a bi
  12.
P.S. I ride as well '05 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1600
Ps, I have a 2001 Ducati 996, 2003 Ninja ZX12, and a 1998 Yamaha V-Max 1200. Got to love the power huh? Oh and I did turn down the volume and it does sound a lot better from what people have told me.
  13. And the very first Ducati Headlight Flasher circuit is installed and working with not a single glitch. I kept my headlights on just to test, but it works no matter what the headlights are doing (on/off/auto/etc). I have envelopes and things in the truck, I hope to have these out tomorrow (if all goes as planned). I hope to have all the first 17 out if possible (I might need to one of the techs at work tomorrow to goof off and build these instead of doing real work, but I think I can pull that off). I really set out to be very personable with the email and pm corrospondance but I'm gett
  14. Excellent GnatGoSplat. That's exactly the problems I saw with doing the car computer vs. just a very expensive head unit. Very well said. My feelings exactly.
  15.
So the V710 connects fine with the AVIC-Z1?
Oh yah, the connection via bluetooth is rock solid. I miss the parrot link to the voice commands with the phone. But the Avic has other voice commands. They are ok, but not right to the name. I think you can tell it to go to your phone book and then select the number from the Avic's phone book. Not great. But you can pick up the phone, dial a number and close the phone and the Z1 picks it up automatically. Something I didn't realize it did till tonight.
I have been to a couple of places that ha

    is the Z1 for me?

I had an 05 Chrysler 300C with every option (nav, sat, bluetooth, etc) and my "new" vehicle is a 03 Lincoln Aviator and I wanted all the stuff I gave up with the 300C (latest nav and radio that DC offers). And the Z1 came closer than anything out there. It takes a little work (with steering wheel controls, and the extra adapters, etc). It's got more stuff, does everything that a DC system will do plus more. With the more stuff comes more complexity, but functioanlity, I think I got what I was looking for.... which is pretty much what you are looking for.
  17. Wow, guess what I made a few of tonight? They look good. I built up 12 so far. So here is the picture of the first generation. It's all surface mount. Which by the way is way too small. The next generation will be slightly bigger and longer and thinner. Over all size of gen 2 will be about 1.75 times bigger than what you see here. Surface mount made it super small, but it takes way too long to make any quanity of these, I was going a little carzy soldering these tonight. Not that any of you should care, as long as this thing works, right? I just thought I would post a pic of
  18.
GUYS... thanks for the info, radio is in standby (like key off) when the remote start is on, the radio never comes on during the remote start, what im getting at is... When i turn the ignition on, the radio will come on (leaving it on say XM when i turn the key off) BUT the lights will aready be on, so will that 2 PAC circut cut the power, perform the bypass pulse's and then work as usuall??
You could use the two pacs. They power up with the radio. If the lights are already on, you will need 2 of them. But the fact that the radio does not come on till the k
  19.
So has the first batch shipped yet?
Not yet, I have all the parts (they all came in a couple hours ago, I'm going to stay late at work to try to get them done tonight. Those who paid me via e-check haven't cleared yet though. Hopefully I will finish them tonight, if not, then tomorrow night and they should go out Thursday (I hope).
  20.
That could be why it is not working, correct? Thanks
I agree with 03Vic, I'm thinking they didn't hook up that wire.
  21.
Are you able to access the phonebook on the phone through the Z1? I do believe that Superdave's is the same as Superwombats. I am with Telus and I think you are with Verizon. Why is the bluetooth on the Z1 not as good as the Parrot.... Quality? Features? Thanks
Yes, I'm Verizon. No you have to load your own phonebook with the Z1. The parrot you access your phone's phonebook. I think the audio quality is better with the Parrot. The Z1 bluetooth interfaces better with the head unit, no seperate screen or anything, but the interface itself
  22.
Well, single din? Forget about that. Double din? Possible. FM? Not at this time, no units out there of any quality. (ones that plug into a pc) You want a unit that goes into a double din, yet you want a big touchscreen? The biggest you could go for a din size is 7". I'm glad I posted here, because now I'm really investigating the possibilities of building my own system. It would still only have a 7" TS monitor, but with a DVD drive, and all the usual stuff. (No FM) The XM (or Sirius) box, the USB ports, Nav antenna/reciever, would all be seperate. Everyth
  23. Just make sure you don't connect your ILL wire to the parking light "supply" which could be 12V all the time. You want to use a meter or a test light and make sure that your line goes to 12V when the lights are on and ground when they are off. And it will work.
  24.
Does anyone know if the V710's bluetooth works with the AVIC-Z1? I have done a seem edit to my V710 using superwombat's 041A seem. I just have'nt had a chance to try it with an AVIC-Z1. I would like to make sure it works before I order one. TIA
I have a V710 with the superdave firmware loaded. Don't know what the seem edit is, probably the same thing. But it DOES work with the Z1. The bluetooth isn't as cool as a Parrot CK3100, but it does work.
  25.
Question, you have the E-brake wire attached or not? Now, if only I could make 2 months go by real fast so I can get home to my cars...
You can connect it like regular as it says in the manual. I just noticed you were "deployed". Thanks a lot for doing that for us. We are all pulling for you and I hope the two monts goes fast for you too. Come home safe!
