I just tried it, grounding the parking brake and the headlight trick doesn't work. Are you sure that parking brake line is connected to ground? Maybe there is more to this whole parking brake thing than I thought. Or maybe by having it grounded all the time, if you don't flash your headlights do you see the "warning your parking brake is not connected properly" message?

Then flashing your lights with the illumination line connected properly will bypass everything. Don't even touch your parking brake.... you can leave it "floating" not connected to anything, and j

I had an 05 Chrysler 300C with every option (nav, sat, bluetooth, etc) and my "new" vehicle is a 03 Lincoln Aviator and I wanted all the stuff I gave up with the 300C (latest nav and radio that DC offers). And the Z1 came closer than anything out there. It takes a little work (with steering wheel controls, and the extra adapters, etc). It's got more stuff, does everything that a DC system will do plus more. With the more stuff comes more complexity, but functioanlity, I think I got what I was looking for.... which is pretty much what you are looking for.

Wow, guess what I made a few of tonight? They look good. I built up 12 so far. So here is the picture of the first generation. It's all surface mount. Which by the way is way too small. The next generation will be slightly bigger and longer and thinner. Over all size of gen 2 will be about 1.75 times bigger than what you see here. Surface mount made it super small, but it takes way too long to make any quanity of these, I was going a little carzy soldering these tonight. Not that any of you should care, as long as this thing works, right? I just thought I would post a pic of

The parrot you access your phone's phonebook. I think the audio quality is better with the Parrot. The Z1 bluetooth interfaces better with the head unit, no seperate screen or anything, but the interface itself

Just make sure you don't connect your ILL wire to the parking light "supply" which could be 12V all the time. You want to use a meter or a test light and make sure that your line goes to 12V when the lights are on and ground when they are off. And it will work.

Don't know what the seem edit is, probably the same thing. But it DOES work with the Z1. The bluetooth isn't as cool as a Parrot CK3100, but it does work.
