  1. Considering the current mods and the talents available among the AVIC411 community... what's stopping us from pulling the files off of the SD card and uploading them somewhere? I, for one, have a bit-for-bit "Floppy Copy" app at work that we use to transfer software licenses from computer to computer. I'm sure something more current could be used to duplicate the Pioneer SD cards. I mean... *some* of us, who shall remain nameless of course... have never paid for a map update... and this probably won't be any different. Thoughts? Also, the Pioneer site just says it's a map upgrade...
  2. Thanks for the videos! Any vids of the X series/3.0 in action? I can't go by the new vids of the X series just posted on Pioneer's website as those are clearly sped up (The iPod Connectivity video they have). It would be nice to see real world use of the system so I don't have to blow the money on the F series update as if it is still laggy all around, I'll just sell the F to my brother, and use that along with the money saved on the update to fund the Z110. Also, I'm surprised that they didn't try to make more use out of the 3D graphics chip. Coverflow for the iPod or XM channel banners w
  3. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/Accessories/NavigationUpgrades/CNSD-100FM Apparently this map/FW update is going to cost $130, not $70.
  4. The OS looks to be similar, but the nav software looks like an upgraded version of Pioneer's inhouse nav software from the older Z series. Can't wait to see this thing in action. I probably won't get it right away if at all since I really want 3.0 to work out well, but time will tell.
  5. The F series will become identical to the X series software wise. The only differences after the 3.0 update between F and X will be the faceplate/knob and the new Apple authentication chip from what I understand.
  6. I'm very curious about this as well. That's the only hack I have currently and I don't want to be without it Same here on that one, that is easily my most used feature of the navigation. I'm really going to try to make the new F 3.0 update work since $1600 + $100 for MSN receiver is kinda steep considering what that could buy me in the speakers/amps department. I'm still on all stock speakers with a cheapy $100 sub on a Pioneer 360w monoblock.
  7. This thing is NUTS. Any details on how the Link Artist, Album, feature works? Is there a link button on the iPod screen that pulls up other albums by the same artist and other songs from the same artist? That would be killer.
  8. They did. According to the people I talked to, the 1.0/2.0 were done by some 3rd party. 3.0 was done completely in house and "is much more efficient". That is awesome to hear. I will definitely buy 3.0 before I make a final decision of the Z. Thanks for answering our many questions! Can't wait to see the test drive video tomorrow.
  9. From the bootup video posted, boot time for the new X/3.0 is about 20 or so seconds which is pretty good. Though, it looked like that was the time to boot to regular FM radio. Will the boot time be similar if booting directly to iPod? It looks like the only hardware changes were cosmetic/the new Apple chip. Nothing in the way of memory/cpu upgrades. I can't see Pioneer releasing the X series as their midrange navigation AGAIN with the same slowness of the F series. They must have done a full tear down and rebuild of the code to get this going.
  10. When can we expect that test drive video of the Z110?
  11. Wow, those improvements looks great. I may have to get the 3.0 update before I jump to the Z110. If I can get my F booting up a good bit faster I may hold on to it after all, though not likely. Good to see the improvements nontheless.
  12. Good catch on that! Hopefully it won't cost too much and isn't too bulky either.
  13. I just read in the PDF for the Z110 that the MSN Direct tuner is optional? Can anyone confirm this?
  14. I'm definitely getting the Z110 now that I know iGo is not under it. I'm sorry, but I HATE the Pioneer-ized version of iGo, even if it did get improved with the new X series. The routing always sucked regardless along with the TTS voices. I have owned the D3, the Kenwood 8120, the 5120, and the F90 and F700. The D3 and the Garmin always had great routing in my area regardless of settings. I also prefer the look of the detailed Pioneer maps from the Z/D series era and am VERY happy to see the return of Pioneer's nav software along with the POI icons, etc. I'm saving up for this unit for sure. I
  15. Any videos of the nav voice control/iPod control screen? Any pics or info? Thanks!
  16. Any chances of getting pics of the new Z's iPod/AV interface in action?
  17. Will us F series owners be able to just download the map/FW update as soon as it is available and just pay on the spot, or will we have to order SD cards and wait for them to come in the mail.
  18. That was just me not knowing how to do it the correct way. There's a technique to the drag/scroll. In the later videos, after I realized I was doing it wrong, it's not an issue. I was thinking that it was just being new to the system. The screen was even picking up when your finger was pulling away from the screen. The bootup time of the z series has me SOLD. ~10 seconds from what I counted. That is phenomenal. Any word on the CPU in the Z? Almost seems like a dual core or something atleast 1GHz. Maybe even Intel Atom based, who knows. I'm hoping for street prices in the $1200 range. Also
  19. Any more videos of the new Z coming tonight? Like the new voice control of the nav or anything? Also, what are the bootup times for the new units like. The Z series probably has an upgraded CPU and am looking forward to seeing the difference that makes. Thanks again for the coverage. Any ETA on the 3.0 update? Or is that coming along the same time as the map update.
  20. Looks like I'll be buying the Z series. I'm about 70% sold on it ATM, need to see some screenshots and video first, which are on the way. I love the passenger iPod control, the return of the official branding icons, the custom menus and MOST of all the voice control over the nav software. I'll wait until 3.0 to make the final decision though. Thanks for the coverage Jason!
  21. Reading the description on the site, they now allow for voice control over the nav software. Which means that it may be in the 3.0 update for the rest of the units, but I doubt it. Either way though, I'm sure the software can be modified to support the nav voice control on everything since it is all Windows CE based software running Avic software with iGo 8.3.
  22. What new features are we talking about for the new Z? Voice control of the nav software? Other than that I really don't see what they would add. I'm hoping to be surprised.
  23. Any time I have used a modified DATA.ZIP, I have had numerous disconnect issues. If I put the stock on back on, everything connects perfectly with little to no dropouts for months on end.
  24. I really hoping that they did a full tear down and rebuild from scratch on the F series FW to make it like the new series. It seems that the hardware is decent enough to do what we need it to. I mean, I played around with leetlauncher and response was overall pretty quick and startup time was very quick. It's just Pioneer's first foray into the world of coding for a WinCE device and the lack of experience that caused such sloppily written code. They have to have learned their lesson by now and realized that they can't expect to stay competitive in the niche market of aftermarket Nav units with
  25. I would KILL for that F9110BT. That would fit PERFECTLY in my 07 Jetta. God knows they will never bring it stateside . I can't find a decent double din dash kit that really matches the rest of the softtouch plastics on the dash. I've even paid $80 for ones from Europe, but the fitment was crap. This looks absolutely awesome if I could ever get my hands on one. Who knows, maybe Pioneer is going to announce a line of factory-fit models for the US, similar to the ones at Crutchfield, where they have one for GM, one for Chrysler, one for Toyotas, Ford etc. I could maybe see that happening as many
