  1. I was driving to work and the Z1 began to stop making the normal music sound and started making a scratchy annoying sound, and buzzing through the speakers. The amp was in protection mode, so i tested all the speakers with a speaker pop test. all the speakers were good. Then i figured i would by pass the amp just in case the amp went bad. Bypassed it and this time i got no sound. at least with the amp it was just a scratchy sound. So i tested the speaker wires again just to be sure and they were all good. I tested the Z1 by putting an old door speaker to it and no sound came out of t
  2. happended to me, amplifier was makin the proper connection
  3. As far as I know I only have one picture, and it was the most simple way I could explain it. http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html#newbypass I don't think I can make it any more simple than that, I have updated the instructions a few months ago, if you looked before that maybe it's more descriptive for you. It's not difficult. If your looking at the unit from the back. It is the white connector furthest to the right. inside the connector there are 4 open slots.(the last 2 rows on the right of the connector) use the bottom right and ground it out with the parking brake. flip your
  4. that's part of the reason why i did mine. my wife puts it in for me.
  5. mine works. Mine was manufactured in june '06. I did the upgrade from Z1 to Z2 for the blue tooth upgrade. when i upgraded the flashers stopped working. All I did was ground the connetor #2 pin and presto! took me more time to get the custom kit back installed....lol true conformation...
  6. Upgraded what to what? 1st Gen Z1 - > Bluetooth Updated Z1? Either Z1 -> 1st Gen Z2? If you're asking if this disc will allow a unit to bypass by flashing the lights, I'm gonna say 'no', even though I have no direct evidence of that. I know it wont work I upgraded from z1 to z2 and the bypass for z1 doesn't work anymore. Everyone knows the flashers bypass won't work anymore because it puts the bluetooth update on the Z1. After you use the Z1 to Z2 upgrade does the 2 wire bypass still work? That is the only question still left unanswered. It works perfectly 2
  7. yes it will you have to do the 2 wire bypass, I just finished mine today. it's the connector pin on the bottom right side from the back blank slot. ground it and your good to go.

  10. If Im understanding this correctly, will this work on an upgraded z1? My bypass stopped working when I upgraded. (flashers upgrade) I hope so.
  11. It is the same as the z2 but the bypass with the flashers will not work anymore. I know I just did it 2 days ago. but I'm waiting a few days to see if the new bypass works were you ground normally to the parking brake and ground the connector#2 pin and yes all those problems are fix. Ny navi is acurate and bluetooth is alot better I don't have the IPOd, but everything is wonderful. Hope that helped answer your question
