putting a switch on the gounded wires wont hurt a thing. that is how i have my D3 set up and it work perfectly..and its cool to have a switch to flip it on and off. I drive with it grounded the whole time....the only reason i would turn it off is if i got pulled over

Just got finished performing a bypass on my AVIC D3. Model was made in March 07. Very easy to do.....i hooked the mute wire and the emergency brake wire to a on/off switch. very cool
