ORRYOWL
Hi, I have a 2007 Toyota Camry and am currently trying to install my D2, I started off by splicing and connecting the black to black, red to red, and yellow to yellow to make sure I was at least getting power. No power. If anyone has any knowledge on the proper wiring sequences please let me know. Thanks
HiFiSi
Did you buy a wiring harness adapter? It makes things SO much easier. And it lets you leave the car's radio harness in there in case you ever need to put the factory radio back in. And it's color coded. You just hook all the wires together, then plug it in. Just about any place that sells car stereo stuff will sell them.
kaplan_reject
Did you buy a wiring harness adapter? It makes things SO much easier. True.... and you might want to note if you have the JBL Synthesis system to let them know that, it usually requires a different interface.
ORRYOWL
thanks for the reply No I havent bought the adapter, but do you mean this adapter will plug straight into my cars harness and from there I can go straight to my D2? Also, is there anyway just to test and see if the device is working? Thanks
HiFiSi
They look like that: http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=70-1761 You just attach/splice the corresponding wires from the D1 and it plugs directly into the car's radio harness. And in case you need it, here's the one for if you have the JBL system in there... http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=TYTO-
ORRYOWL
Thanks, Im gonna go hunting for a local seller who might have the above one, as mine isnt the JBL system. In order to test the system, I can cut the red and yellow wires apart from each other and plug them into a socket and ground the black wires, am I right?
kaplan_reject
The red and yellow wires should not be connected together, when you get the harness read the instructions it will line out how to install, but its really simple anyway, its all color coded. HiFiSi
The harness will have a wiring diagram telling you what each wire is for. The D3 has a wiring diagram telling you what each wire is for. Just play the matching game.
ORRYOWL
Thanks alot guys. Got everything up and working, just waiting for my West DVD and GPS antenna to come in. One question though, how do you get to the Vehicle Dynamics screen? Or does the interface change once I get those DVD's? It seems kind of bland.
Julius
ORRYOWL, why didn't you get the D3.You know they're being discontinued and you can get them alot cheaper!
ORRYOWL
What's the best price you've seen? Lol I actually paid roughly $300 for my system which I'm going to possibly sell soon. So far, only major difference I see is DVD playback and better ipod functionality
