hellmaster
I have the Avic-Z1 with the ducati flasher installed. I would like to upgrade to the newer software/maps but the $250 is a bit steep for me. I have seen people on eBay selling hard drives with the new Z3 software that is unlocked and all that. It seems like a easy install. Here are my questions: 1- If I replace the hard drive will my warranty be voided? I have it more than a year so the manufacturers warranty is over, but i have the extended warranty I paid for. 2- Is there anyway for me to get my address book with all my map locations off of the old drive? I would hate to lose them. 3- Also the music and phone book? It wouldn't be the end of the world to have to reinstall the music cd's I put on there and the phone book but it would be a lot easier if I didn't have to. 4- will the ducati flasher have to be removed? THANKS!!!
whtcrxghst
1. Not really. If you have problems, you could always put the original HD back in 2. No 3. No 4. Yes, do the 2-wire bypass method instead. You can find instructions in the hacks/mods section or on ducati's website

hellmaster
Thanks. I saw that auction and was one of the ones I was thinking about. I assume it is am automobile grade hard drive that can handle the bouncing around in a car. When he says that you can hook it up to your computer does he mean that you can copy music on it from there? How is the upgrade with the add-ons like the bluetooth and ipod adapters? CaptainInsaneO
If you look in the classifieds section on the forum, garrettoomey is selling HDDs too. You should look into one of his.
