I have an early unit with ducatiboy's flasher mod. I know I need to take that out and do the later mod, but haven't gotten around to it.

Today, I noticed, when I wanted to enter a new address (usually I just use prev. dest or address book), that the option was blanked out, as were all the things that are normally blanked out while driving. The thing is, the car was sitting in the garage. The speed sensor said 0, but it wouldn't let me access a lot of stuff.

Will just taking the flasher mod out restore these things? Its easier to get to than taking the headunit out.

TIA!

Thats because the parking brake wire is hooked up to the flasher, not the parking brake. All Z3s, Z2s, and late model Z1s required the 2-wire bypass instead of the flasher, so the flasher isn't going to work. You have to do the 2-wire bypass or hook it up properly

thanks, I was hoping that was the case. When the car gets back from the paint shop for its current mods, I will do the later mod.

NOT!

I got the car back from being repainted, and had them paint my center console also, so I figured it was a good time to switch over to the 2 wire bypass. Removed the flasher circuit, installed the 2 wire bypass and it was no different. The C6 is a pain to get the center console out, and I had a car show the next day, so I went to fry's and bought a Z3. Plugged it into my existing wiring and it works perfectly. Something else is not right.

I would have gotten one of the newer units, but I like the Z series and it was easy, plus time was of the essence and I didn't feel like rewiring. Shouldnt have bought the first one on ebay though.

If anyone wants a Z1 to play with or upgrade to a Z3, I'll let this one go cheap and I have all of the original wiring from the Z3 that can go with it too.
