miked37945
I couldn't find an answer to this but has anyone mounted the D3 antenna on the inside of an SUV rear hatch glass. How does it work? I have a 03 Ford Explorer.
JVD2999
I dont know if you got you answer already, but I have an 05 explorer, and I hid the gps antenna in the dash. Just pop out the trim panel right underneath the windshield (where the blinking red light is) and put the ant there. I just stuck the magnet on the metal right below that trim panel. The manual says to put it on top of the car with an unobstructed view, but I did this about 4 months ago, and I have driven all over CA, NV and across the country to Wisconsin and have not lost signal. Hope this helps.
HiFiSi
^ What he said will work fine. The satellite signal can go through glass as well as a plastic dashboard. As long as it's not blocked by anything metal you will get a good signal. Plus you don't have to run the antenna cable all the way to the back of the vehicle, and it's a much cleaner install because you can't see the antenna at all.
miked37945
Thanks, the dash sounds like a winner. My GPS is more of a novelty than anything, My D3 was purchased mainly so I could use my iPod on the road and watch movies while waiting for the girlfriend to come out of the store!
