Does rear camera work before the Ipod VSS catalog done

Recommended Posts

I've decided to be a trusting sort and still go with the F90 for my system, mostly for the ipod integration and bluetooth with virtually unlimited number of phone numbers saved on the unit directly. (For work, I need hundreds saved in).

I am in desperate need of a reverse camera since the corvette has such a long rear and I am often parked between big SUVs and can't be seen pulling out until it is too late. (Ask me how I know this  )

So, currently if I turn on the car and put it in reverse, do I actually have to wait 1-3 minutes for the ipod to catalog before the image will show up on the screen? Or is the delay just in switchin the sources on the screen?

Oh and how is the image quality on screen with the cameras?

Thanks for the help.

I recently mentioned in THIS POST that the reverse camera works almost immediately at powerup. I don't have an ipod, so I can't confirm that it works while it reads the ipod, although I suspect it WILL work right away. My F700BT takes the 'usual' (:?) few minutes to finish fully booting, but the camera works right away!

I have a Boyo VTL420 license plate mounted camera on my RSX, and the display through the F-Series is excellent! The Boyo is a wide-angle view, so I can see EVERYTHING behind the car. ZERO blind spots!... 8)

My only gripe is that the top of the display reads "Image May Be Reversed" when the camera is activated. Just Pioneer's lawyers at work preventing lawsuits from idiots. The same lawyers that make you touch "OK" at each first use of the navigation...
