skep
SCROLL DOWN TO NEW POST FOR UP-TO-DATE INFO ok ill try to make this as short as possible. two weeks ago i was at a car show and had my music playing my avic z1 in my 2005 nissan maxima.... turned it off to give the car a break and a lil later turned it back on. at that point to booted up fine, but when it came to the CAUTION screen to press OK to proceed.... touch screen didnt work. buttons dont work on the radio and touch screen is completely inoperable. what DOES work is.... -i can see the map moving behind the CAUTION screen as i drive -if i put in a CD it will play, but i cant navigate thru the cd.. only play as it goes -adjust volume -CD will still load to the hard drive as i play a new cd. -bluetooth calls will still go thru radio and thats all i can do!!! no touch screen, no nav, no library music, cant switch AV sources at all, no navigation... cant do anything but look at the caution screen. tried popping in the UPDATE disc again, and it didnt do ANYTHING tried calling in to pioneer, they said send it and pay $200 for them to check/repair problem they've never seen this problem before, and nether has any1 else ive asked any1 here? any solution?? dawgbone
I would try the super duper reset from the manual... But it really sounds like your touchscreen shit it's bed... How are you answering your calls? handset?
CatchMeIfYouCan631
you can answer from your phone too. Skep, you might need to try a new HDD. thats all i got for ya.
GnatGoSplat
Go into TEST MODE: open face, press RESET and DVD EJECT at the same time, then release RESET while still holding DVD EJECT until you get a black screen with a message in the center, then press PLIST UP twice and PLIST DOWN twice, then T. See if the touchscreen diagnostics works. If so, then you might just need the hard drive rebuilt/replaced. If not, in Test Mode, try going to the Forced Program Write and re-write PLATFORM and see if that helps. If nothing works, it's probably a hardware problem. Dawgbone had posted the service manual awhile back, you can use that to disassemble the faceplate. You could try unplugging and replugging the touchscreen, but most likely your touchscreen could be shot. The service manual has the p/n for the touchscreen you can run through parts.pioneerelectronics.com for a price. Also, you can get a 7" Fujitsu touchpanel from mouser.com for about $28+s&h... not sure if it's the same as the Pioneer one, but you can find datasheets online to compare. skep
ill try that test mode for sure. but its not the touch screen. it just goes to this one view and stays there... not even the buttons on bottom work, only eject. its just a glitch in the drive i think. i might have no choice but to get a new drive with the z3 update. i wanna do it but im tryin to wait for money to get a lil better. and yeah. i answer the phone via the handset.. and talk thru the radio. oh and the volume button works. it just doesnt let me control anything else
skep
BUMP BUMP BUMP i see that others are starting to have the same problem now and i got a call from a customer a couple days ago having same problem mine isnt permanently frozen anymore but i do have to fight with it to get the touch screen to respond, particularly in cold weather. and the touch screen starts to act on its own, moving my placement on the mapping randomly and NOW, this morning i decide to drive the car n my son wanted to watch a movie so i pop in THE DARK KNIGHT and it says "unreadable disc".. so i take it out, pop it back in and same thing again... 10 mins later try again. eject n insert and it finally works. what the f***!!!! anyone else having these issues? is it a recall? free repair? or do we just have to send it and pay the $200 pioneer repair fee??? CaptainInsaneO
I believe there's an update on Pioneer's website to fix this. Have you tried that yet?
skep
theres a fix for the freeze that locks up the whole system at bootup but i already did that, this is a touch screen problem weird thing is tho! snce i did that update, my radio was no longer bypassed. i just got the radio rewired for bypass again on friday. since i did so, the radio has no issues now! weird, but hey.. it works! atleast for now

valin
I am also having the same issues. I assumed it was a software based issue, and purchased a new Z3 drive off of eBay (I wanted the updates anyways), but I am still having the same issues. It's maddening.
