Another phone book transfer issue

Recommended Posts

I have a Motorola Z9 and an F700BT. I can transfer my contacts just fine, except that I get the "three entries with the same name" issue for a single contact with home, work, and cell numbers.

The other weird thing is that sometimes I'll also get entries with last name first plus the phone number type. For example, under the A's, I'll have three listings with the same name:

Adam Smith
Adam Smith
Adam Smith

And then under the S's, I'll get this:

Smith Adam home
Smith Adam mobile
Smith Adam work

I've tried arranging names in my phone book by last name first and first name first. Any suggestions?

I had this problem too when I initially transferred my phone book from my iPhone to my F900.

Try to clear the contacts out of the AVIC first. Then set your phone's Sort Order option to First, Last. Then try transferring them over again.

If that doesn't work, repeat the process, but set the phone's Sort Order option when the AVIC is off, then restart it. I dunno if this is true, but maybe the unit is caching the options from when it's initially paired.

I had the same problem. Every time I tried to sync my contacts as new (even though they were supposedly erased from the F90), they would double. Then triple. I had 5 copies before I figured out what was happening.

The best fix is to edit the file as Valkur notes. I have a LOT of contacts, but some are old and not too important. I now have a limited number on the Pioneer and it works great. Took me about 30-45minutes to clean up the file and make it perfect.

I also edited the ID's so my most important contacts are at the TOP of my lists so they are the first things I see when I hit the Contacts button on the main screen. Home, Wife, etc...now they are first, instead of being buried 10 screens down.
