powa
I've read through the forum and find out that the Z1 has no security against theft, i did think about putting a fake face plate, or maybe a slider with a photo of my old HU and just slice it down when i leave the car (like a garage door, but a photo on top). Anyways, im thinking that the remote security system might help some (well more security wont' hurt). So i wanna ask which one is good? a friend of mine installed a system with Compustar, he said it's pretty good: http://www.compustar.org/remote_start.htm 2W900FM-S (remote start without alarm) what do you guys think? i also read there is Viper, but doesn't look that great, any opinions will be helpful, thx. bdmpastx
What track is that in your picture? It looks nice... BTW, keep your car in your garage and you shouldn't need a high dollar system. Out of sight, out of mind plays a huge role in the break ins. If you can mask the unit you will be way better off than an alarm in my opinion.
powa
this guy did the face plate thing http://www.mbworld.org/forums/showthrea ... ost1775361 yes, but im not just secure the GPS system, i also don't want anyone to do anything to my car. I've put so much time and money on the mods on my car, i just don't want anyone to do stupid stuff. As for the track, it's in Euro
bdmpastx
It looks like it may be the Nuerburgring... The F150 Faceplate looks like the best alternative.
jimmy303
I've been installing Autopage for a few years, now, and have had very few issues with their product. Works well, not too expensive, sensors are reliable, and has a lot of neat features like built in timed triggers so you can arm and roll up your windows and close your sunroof on the Benzo with one button press. jimmy303
Plus, if you get the 2-way remote, the carbon look is kinda sexy....

jimmy303
Seems pretty cool as far as features go, esp. the camera feature, but I haven't installed or used one, so I can't account for its reliability or quality.

BigFloppy
I'm actually in process of "doing this on the cheap" (and not really having it transmit out...) us Mustang guys are known to be cheap a$$ PAC-TR7 (or other timer circuit) Pre-existing Proximity Detector Bastardized throw-away flash camera from wallyworld "Smile... you're on Candid Camera"
rchan11
I've had my 2W900FM-AS for 3 months now. It works great. There are alot of features that you may have to pay extra for like auto-door lock and trunk release so shop around if you're not doing the install yourself. The range is good. I've had success with starting my car from a block away in a concrete building. It has the large LCD screen displaying all your information: Status of car: started/not started locked/unlocked hood open/closed clock auto-start timer Secondary remotes are expensive at $200 CAD. Cheers, Rchan11
fanito
HEY POWA! (I'm "this guy...") ok, now, I hate to say it but what if the dude (or dudette) gets in the passenger door, there is no camera pointing there, right? What if is a 300lbs MOFO with other guys, guns and shackles? Are you going to carry outside your car a bat or a wrench every time you go out? Unfortunately there is so much that you can do and I think PREVENT is the key factor. If they see a crappy radio they are not going to risk it. Plus, they can bust your window and the alarm will not go off (in our benzos at least), the damage is done and then we are screwed. I did weight my options and opted for the faux plate, it's cheap, looks ok at best and very unappealing for a thief. I hope I'll never find out if it doesn't work...
