Have this installed in my RV - loaded hard disk with the "official" image - and it ran fine for months.

RV was left sitting unused for about 6 months. When I fired it up - the Z3 was "stuck" in the boot/flash screen. It fired up all the way - one time after that - and has since been stuck at that screen.

What's the "common logic" on this? Hard drive took a crap? I guess I need to swap the drive from the V1/V3 in my CAR into the bus and see if it boots.

Out of warranty now - so I guess I need to buy one of Garrett's drives and just install it if that turns out to be the case, eh?

If your drive is not locked, you might try Spinrite 6.0 on it. It sounds like snake oil, but it really works. I've successfully repaired several hard drives with it, even an iPod drive. I have no idea how this is even physically possible, but it worked for me for iPod drives, Tivo drives, laptop drives, etc.

Might have to get off my dead butt and try swapping drives - just lazy I guess considering my bus are car are parked right next to each other in my driveway...

Thanks for the tip GnatGO - I'm an IT specialist and have been using SpinRite since version 1. I've recovered drives that would have made an OnTrack Recovery specialist blush - and for thousands less. A "tool of last resort" before sending a drive out for recovery. (I say tool of last resort - because out of all the data recovery type software - this one actually WRITES to the drive.

I don't recall if I disabled locking on the drive when I wrote the updates to it - I usually do...
