Problem playing AVI files on F500bt, with GoPro camera

Recommended Posts

OK, so I got an AVIC F500bt, and got all the bypass stuff hooked up.

It plays video from the camera input, but won't play video off the SD slot or USB port.

I've updated the firmware to 2.0, that all seemed to go pretty well.

For videos created on a different camera, and downloaded to the SD card from my laptop, I get audio, but no video. The controls are there on the screen, but it is black otherwise. When I disconnected the parking brake ground wire, the "Caution" screen comes up, then when I re-connect the ground, that screen clears. So it's not a bypass problem.

For videos created on my GoPro camera, which is AVI format, the unit says that the file can't be read.

Anyone have any suggestions? I've searched as many keywords as I can think, and can't find anything on audio but no picture.

Thanks

AVI is a very generic container (Sometimes the AVI extension is added to files that should really be something else). There are so many different ways to make an AVI file - different types of video and audio codecs, bitrate, number of frames per second, normalization, wrappers, etc. I think the files that you are trying to play are just not in the right kind of AVI format. You should try downloading some AVI's form internet and see if any of them play. I bet some would and some wouldn't.
