IvanRaide
Searching this forum for "iphone firmware 3.0" will find you lots of articles about it NOT working on the Avic-F series!! My question is, has anyone determined if the same is happening with our D3's ???? I was kinda hoping that the bluetooth streaming for the D3 would start to work with this firmware, but given what is happening on the F series, I'm a little scared in general!! Here is an example of it (somewhat) working for a person (not an Avic) but it initially made me hopeful Also, what about Phone Contact Push/Pull, (is this working??) dontcallmejames
i have iphone 0S 3.0 installed and i can't get it to stream audio or add contacts. bluetooth phone still works, but i can't get anything new working.
IvanRaide
Though that completely sucks, thanks for the update. Hopefully they will resolve any problems prior to the release, but I kinda doubt it.
dontcallmejames
good news. I installed iPhone OS 3.0 beta 3 the other day and it seems to have fixed the bluetooth audio setup. my d3 now recognizes my iPhone and allows me to stream audio from it. the sound quality is shit compared to my hardwired ipod, but at least it works. i still haven't figured out how to push my contacts up to my d3. the iPhone doesn't really have a place in the setup to actually "transmit" contacts. tail24
any updates on this? Beta 4 is now out any luck with transfering contacts>? I find it crazy that we can now text info and that we can use BT music but cant transfer contacts
Den
I got the new 3gs iPhone with the 3.0 software already installed on it and am having trouble registering the phone to my D3. It lets me manually connect via bluetooth but I cannot register it permanently. This makes me have to connect manually every time I get into the car. I'm going to mess around with it more tonight and will post what happens here. Hopefully its something simple.
Den
Sorry guys, I'm a dumb ass. I didn't realize to register the phone I had to press and hold the slot I wanted to go into. I was just pressing quickly. Just a matter of getting out the instructions. Everthing is working good now.
iastute
Den - are you now getting the D3 to automatically detect and connect with the iPhone?
italiangoat
i have the iphone 3G with the 3.0 software. I have no problem syncing the phone to my unit, and it will stream music but you can not select the music you want to play, you just press play and it goes. The 3.0 software looks like it started its work in bluetooth but didnt finish it. The reason i say this is on the last iphone it would connect but didnt even pretend like you could transfer the phone book. With this one when you sync the iphone the option to transfer the phone book is there but when you press it, it disconnects the phone. So we are taking baby steps and were not quite there
iastute
@italiangoat - I understand what you're syaing as I have been able to do this as well. The problem that resurfaced for me is that when I turn the car off, take out the key the phone is disconnected. When I re-start the car, the AVIC unit does not see the iPhone and I have to do a re-pairing to get the connection back. Still the same way during the early days. Are you saying your AVIC unit pairs with the iPhone automatically? This is what I am trying to resolve.
italiangoat
Yes it does pair with my phone whenever i grt in my car... Once you pair up do nothing besides try to save the phone into the units memory. Otherwise the avic will reject the phone. Sooo get in, pair up and go to phone register in the menue and press and hold on the first available number. The only time mine statrs acting odd is when i try to do other thing like transfer the phonebook.
iastute
I did the procedure as you described. The iPhone was stored in memory and the unit was recognized. However when I take out the key and then re-start the car a few minutes after..the iPhone is no longer recognized. I have to pair the unit again.
wendrila
I know there will be an iPhone SDK. I was thinking about buying the original iPhone but now im not sure. Is the iPhone SDK an actual phone or is it a software u can download onto your real iPhone? __________________ yahoo keyword tool ~ overture ~ traffic estimator ~ adwords traffic estimator
italiangoat
SDK is a prgram that you can get from apple to make applications for the iphone. It doesnt do anything other than make applications. I have ordered a blackberry Bold and i am getting rid of my iphone, im tired of all the dropped calls and all the little crap problems it has all the time. Then when you try to get help apple points at ATT and ATT points at apple. Its pretty ridiculous!
Oneangrytoast
wHen you say press and hold, do you mean on the iPhone or on the d3? Where is the menu that shows what devices are paired on the d3?
