Tuning Haus
hey guys, recently i installed the z3 harddrive from garrettoomy. it seems to be doing great. i've tried to put a few cd's in to get onto the hard disk drive but after the 2nd disk, it stopped reading/recording. giving me an error and ever since then, ANY and all CD's/DVD's i put in, it says it's "UNREADABLE DISK." any ideas on how to correct this problem? thanks

If not, it would seem your DVD player is knackered / dirty....
spolkyc
... i've tried to put a few cd's in to get onto the hard disk drive but after the 2nd disk, it stopped reading/recording. giving me an error and ever since then, ANY and all CD's/DVD's i put in, it says it's "UNREADABLE DISK." ... Are these commercial CDs and DVDs? Or mostly burned (home made)? If burned try a few commercial disks from different production companies.
moneymatt
Has anyone else solved this problem? My Z2 just started doing the same thing without updating the hard drive.
garrettoomey
Try several 'store bought' cds or dvds. If they do not work, and cleaning the laser lens does not work, then your DVD drive may have failed.
moneymatt
Does anyone how I can swap the DVD drive? I'm too frustrated with Pioneer to send them a $200.00 check to fix a 1-year old z2 that shouldn't be broke in the first place.
garrettoomey
The part number is CXK6341 and costs about $350... You may check the internal cable connections if you are going to open the case.
Tuning Haus
how do you clean the Laser lense? mine did it since i put in a regular CD... then all of a sudden since then NO cd's/DVD's work commercial or home made.
garrettoomey
You would need to buy a CD/DVD lens cleaner. It's a cd with a small brush on the disk that cleans the lens.
