Z1 in a 2000 pontiac grand prix?

I really want to get the Z1 but im not sure if it will fit into my 2000 pontiac grand prix. The stock HU is a 1.5 din and right now i have an Alpine 7998 which is a single din HU. I want to put the Z1 in and i didnt know what needs to be done to make it fit. Any help would be great.

Some pretty severe modification of both the dash bezel surronding the radio and the sub dash that dash kit that your alpine is in bolts to.

Its possible, I have it in my 98 GPGT right now.
Lots of plastic trimming as was said.

But the distance from the top of the AC control panel, to just underneath the AC vents will fit a 2Din.

Im machining a custom bracket and will post a complete blueprint when done. Here are a few shots.

so the trim bezel has to be chopped up and redone to make this work?

If you don't mind the extra work, I think it would look better if you lower the climate control to give the HU a little more room. Losing that bar between the radio/climate control would make it look rather odd, so I'd move the climate control down enough to keep the bar.

I had a similar problem with my 99 Silverado, so I ended up lowering the climate control and it looks pretty good. I'll take pics when I get it smoothed and finished, because IMO, it looks even better than when people take the easy way and use an 03+ bezel/bracket on the Chevy trucks.
