connect ipod through auxilary input

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I want to connect my ipod through my avic z1 but don’t want to use the adaptors that allow you to control the ipod through the touch screen (very slow). How can I connect the ipod through the auxiliary av input? I am able to access the back of my unit, but I don’t really know anything about electronics and different type of plugs/adaptors. Where is the auxiliary av input (to me this means something like red/white/yellow rca inputs that I have on my tv). Could someone walk my though what cables/adaptors I need and where to plug them in to connect my ipod?

thanks

There are red/white/yellow RCA aux inputs on the back of the Z. You will need an iPod video cable that will connect the RCAs on the back of the Z and plug into the headphone jack on the iPod. This will also give you iPod video with sound.

Thanks for the reply. Are they behind something or hidden? I dont know if im simply overlooking them but i dont see any. I see connector one, connerctor two, IP BUS, AV BUS etc

thanks

It will be in a 'plug in' wiring harness called 'RCA connector 1'. It plugs in directly below the fan and next to the 'power' wiring harness. If you do not have any amps installed, then it may not be attached to your Z. Check the original box to see if the installer left it off.
