Guest stryfox
Ok I have a z-1 and love it. I ordered the blue tooth adaptor. I am due to get a new phone as my motorola is pretty beat up and all the buttons don't work anymore. Here Is the question. I have Cingular, What phone should i look into getting? I don't need tons of extras (ex. mp3,keyboard, internet), just one that will work well with the z-1 and have the normal stuff. Thanks for any help.
Guest Guest
The http://www.phonescoop.com/ site is particularly useful in that you can do very detailed "constrained" seraches on handsets. I'm using "constrained" to mean things like "show me only clamshell form-factor headsets that are Currently Available, bluetooth-compatible, and usable with Cingular (or whoever)." tridentnyc
Stryfox, I am a Cingular customer and I have, what I belive to be, my best cell phone yet. It is the Audiovox SMT-5600:check out a review and video on it here. http://reviews.cnet.com/Audiovox_SMT560 ... 38516.html This phone sounds great, has great reception, is small and light (candy bar form factor) and has a ton of extra features like a built in mp3 player, camera, Windows mobile etc. I know you said you don't need anything flashy, but you get a lot of "phone" for the money. Also, I have talked with both Pioneer and Audiovox and I'm told this phone is definitely compatible with the Z1. Cingular has since released their own version of this phone the Cingular 2125 (due to the 5600's immense popularity), and it may be difficult to get the original Audiovox version...usually you can find it on eBay for under $200. You can always go with Cingulars version : http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cell-p ... WT.svl=img I know this may be way more phone than you're looking for, but this IS one great phone AND as I said it is supposed to work just fine with the Z1. Hope this helps. mbaran
No. this just means that the BT chip in the z1 is 1.1 compliant. It will still communicate with 1.2 and 2.0 phones. Its all in how the driver is written. The difference between 1.1 and 1.2 is things like AD2P, which would have let us stream music, in stereo, from our phones, to our radios. Since it is just 1.1, it will only communicate with OBEX and HFP (Hands Free Profile). The reason some phones work not as well as others is how the BT driver is written for the phone. If the driver makes poor usage of the BT chip, than it performs badly. Ever installed windows fresh, and the video is very choppy. It still may have a high end video card, but until you install drivers written for that chip, it will not work well. On that same note, if you dont write them well, it may not work with EVERYTHING. BT is really picky.
