damixt
I received the new update for the F series. I live in so-cal so i think thats why i got it so fast. Anyway it took me about 45 minutes total to complete the update so make sure you have time before you start. The second sd card take about 90 percent of the time. The sd cards are sent in a cd case and on the inside is a paper where you receive a media number. there is also space for a device number which you get when you insert the second sd card (you need to write this one down). After you get those two numbers you go to http://www.pioneernavigationupdate.com and put those two numbers in. The website then gives you a password that you are prompted for before you start updating with the second sd card. Here are some pictures. oh yea i also thought it was funny that with the update came a yellow piece of paper saying there was an error in the upgrade instructions. But the picture it says is incorrect is actually the correct picture. They are going to need a correction for the correction.

damixt
Yes, the first sd card installs without the need for any password. After the first installs the navigation will restart and after it is completely booted you go to the main menu and insert the second sd card. After you insert the second sd card a message will pop up giving you a number. Then you run to your computer and put it the numbers and get a password to install the second sd. ulmer
This is showing a version 3.02.... I assume this is newer than the 3.01 that people have been upgrading to? I've got 3.0 on now with the official update in the mail. I guess I'll just run the update according to instructions and then redo my mods. Cool!

The SD card that contains 3.02 needs to be activated online in order to be installed. The only update you can get is 2.1 which is in the first SD card
StadEMS3
Sweet, I begining to wonder when it was going to finaly come out. I seen on the Pioneer site that is' up to $72 now. Keep us posted on how it works out!
gotti2k7
If it give a activation code. Why couldnt you use the activation code on another unit. It cant send information to Pioneer showing it was activated from the HU. Unless there was something instilled in the HU from the beginning, knowing they could make more money off us with a update... shoman94
I got mine today... I'm in Maine... so that throws the west coast theory out the window. You have to enter the Device number.... and the media number to get the password. So I'm guessing now that you you entered the media number with another device number..... it wouldn't give you the password. So you couldn't install it. Now I'm also guessing the the first SD Card is what enables this function before installing 2nd SD Card. The unit also won't let you install the full system upgrade without installing Firmware 2.10 (1st SD Card) first. So far I love the upgrade.... Well worth the 60 dollars. cranbers
Can you guys post some more specifics on the update you received. Did any of you use the x series Frankenstein firmware that we did for the f series? if so, how does it compare to that? Same exact thing? No performances or other differences or are there a few? Can you all varify the changes here: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=25031 are accurate? Is ipod the default now when the rest button is pushed? Does the map screen automatically appear when you are on a call? Can someone time the amount of time it takes for startup as well with the new update? Also, is there Any way any of you could post some screen shots of the map screen, setting screen etc as well? I will be getting mine soon hopefully I will be happy to post video, screen shots etc after its done. Thanks.

I've been using it and I have no issues with it. In fact its great. If I hadn't already bought the update I probably wouldn't bother. Up to date maps, no activation. Sounds like they really went through a lot of trouble to make this update quite an unpleasent experience. Ever notice how activation always seems to screw legit customers more then it deters piracy? Just look at windows. When will these companies learn? I will never buy another copy of nero. Spend 70 dolllars on software, install it several times because I have to reinstall windows, and I am told i've exceeded my activation limit. Create good software, make it a good price, you will get paid. its that simple. I am more then happy to spend 60 dollars on this update, the maps alone are worth it. Plus I have that good feeling, I actually paid for something haha.

Maybe not, but it IS likely tied to the SD cards and the installation itself... so one activation code likely will not work with anyone elses SD card.
maximus4
weve been through this once before right? perhaps someone with an updated unit would be kind enough to copy their 'my flash disk' much like the way mine has the x series 3.0 on it? come on... do it for the poor folk. damixt
i went on a 60 mile drive today with the new update. The default for av1 is ipod, you can mute the noise for all key presses so it will not be as annoying. The software bypass does work for this and its done exactly the same way. these images are correct with the changes. I did not use the x-series software on my f series so i dont know if there are any differences. The map screen does not automatically appear when you are making a call. The start up time seems like it is the same to me. the sign boards on the screen are really big and they get in the way but they are usefull. You can get rid of them if you want but i think i will just get used to it.
