After seeing/reading about the new interface cable for the D3 that has video (and I'm guessing a better UI) I'm wondering what the chances are that the Z1 will get the same (or similar) thing? I could still return it to the store before it's opened, or maybe I should just forget it and install it until (or even IF) the new cable arrives. ok everyone, throw in your $0.02 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
tmiles2246 Posted November 13, 2006 Report Share Posted November 13, 2006 I can't say enough Good things about the iPod adaptor for the Z1, after having FM transmission and then the DICE integration kit for my factory radio. I like the clear ampliphied sound the Z1 offers. So much more control through the radio that I've put the ipod in the locked glovebox. I have the 60 Gig video with plenty of songs and video to browse through. I like the search feature the best for finding those lost songs. A lot can be said for how you manage your iPod folders. As far as the video output of the iPod, I just ordered the 3.5mm A/V cable to either plug into my headphone jack or into my DICE cradle with A/V out. Its a hardware update, not a software update, and as far as I know its just not going to happen. The iPod cable will hook directly into the D3 without any interface box, meaning the iPod interface is built in the unit. I think'll you're more likely to see the update on the Z2 (wow that feels weird to type) than be able to have that interface on the Z1. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Why aren't all of the data fields for a channel displayed all at once? i.e. Channel Number, Channel Name, Song Artist, Song Title, Album Name, Song Date? Why instead is there a huge, useless Sirius logo? 3) Inability to copy MP3's to hard drive. 4) Inability to even PLAY MP3's from a data DVD disk. 5) Poor quality proprietary audio codec (ATRAC) used instead of the open MP3 codec to record from audio CDs. People say XM paid them off for a better interface. Rather, Pioneer has been making XM products for several years now (i.e. Pioneer Airware, Pioneer Inno, etc). Also from what I read here, Pioneer does not make the Sirius add on tuners, a third party does for Pioneer. BUT Pioneer does manufacture the XM tuners. 3. I agree this is a problem, but probably a "cover your ass" type of thing with the RIAA. Ya know, the recording industry who sues everyone and their dead grandmothers (literally!) An MP3 cd can be played because you already created the CD. The option to burn them to the harddrive now would make Pioneer liable because there is no way to prove you legally owned the MP3s. Using a store bought CD, there is less doubt that you did not legally purchase it. 4. My 3 home DVD player dont play DVD mp3's, but does play CD mp3s. 5. See #3. Proprietary equals less liability. (Thanks RIAA!) 6. Stop whining. No electronics out there is "perfect". You are the type of consumer who always finds a fault and will never be satisfied. That's OK, just use the other eye." And I do use play lists, the built in ones, they are called Genres and Artists. I should not need nor do I want to sit down and build play lists for every single thing I ever want to maybe possibly might listen to together with other stuff. Lets see, I have over 5,000 songs on my iPod how many permutations is that... about a googolplex, I'll get right on that. Don't make crappy interfaces, how hard is that? 6. Stop whining about my whining. Irrespective of your rude, uncalled for and uninformed comments: What I AM is a programmer that is offended by lazy, sloppy, inconsistent coding and I will continue to complain about it as long as coding is my profession.
