Shallow Mount Subs in Doors?

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

Has anyone installed shallow mount subs in their doors? I was looking at putting a Pioneer 8" in the driver and passenger door. I know a sub should be sealed/ported, but the shallow mounts claim not to matter. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jason

I've glassed 8" shall subs into doors. I also used a good amount of sound deadening on the inner and outer skin. If you are looking to do it in your dub, it's going to be an issue with depth as it barely fits speakers without spacers. You'll prob have to surface mount it. I'll see if I can find pics of the one I did.

I have a 2006 Mustang GT, and am in the middle of a full system upgrade. I replaced the stock 8" subs with Kenwood shallow mount subs. Will no more this weekend as I am at that point of install.

So far, you options for shallow mount subs are Pioneer, Kenwood, and Kicker.
