johnyavic
I'm thinking about purchasing the Z1 but now that I've read the D3 is due out in 4 months I'm on the fence as to whether I should wait or not. One thing i'm kind of hung up on is the Z1's sluggish iPod performance. The news I've read claims this won't be a problem in the D3. Is anyone else caught in the same delemia? ducatiboy
My theory is that with technology you can do this over and over and never have anything. If you waited for your next laptop till the next great thing to come out you would wait forever. These will never be fully finished and the newer model will always have something cooler than the one you just bought. My recommendation is to buy when you need/want what you are looking for and unless it's within a month away, go with what you like at that time. Because that 4 months could easily change to 8 and then to 10. Unless the "new" unit is shipping and just not released, I would be focused on what you can afford and when you are ready to buy it. Just my own thought.
cmike
For what it's worth, I just got the Z1 and am very happy with it. Ipod operation is only challenging when searching for artist and having to arrow down the alphabet to get to say... Rolling Stones. There should be an easier way to skip quickly. But, that is really the only problem I have with it. Most of my listening is playlists anyway and since I have 8 - 10 that I listen to mainly.. those are easy to access. Few other things that I would change.. like it takes a good amount of time to copy music to the library. And I wish they had "themes" for the screen and buttons .. allowing users to select the look they prefer. But overall... I'm really happy with it.

johnyavic
all good points, thanks alot for your input, I think I'm going to just go for the Z1 and and deal with the slow ipod integration, besides I usually just shuffle anyway..... thanks again guys, i can't tell you how helpful this site has been! jimmy303
The major "cool factor" features I see with the D3 besides being about $500 cheaper are the iPod video feature and the color-selectable buttons (much cooler than cntrylvr79's buddy with the Sharpie-hmmm). But, I would miss being able to steal my buddies' music on road trips by asking them to bring their cd's and ripping them to the HD on the Z1, usually without them knowing....heh,heh. djmixmac
But the screen is bigger on the Z1 and isnt the NAVI better on the Z1 as well?
jimmy303
The nav should be the same, if not better because of newer info. The screen is a bit smaller, but so is the price tag. Considerably.

What's wrong with sharpies?....... I know I still get a kick out of it once in a while.
jimmy303
Nothing's wrong with Sharpies, as long as you use them for what they were designed for, putting permanent villain moustaches on your friends' faces when they pass out at your New Year's party. http://www.break.com/pictures/bb8634.html
