johnyavic
Just picked up my truck from the installer.......haven't spent too much time with the unit to give rave reviews yet.......on thing that right off the bat isn't right is the voice reconition. I realize it isnt always 100% accurate but something is waaaay off. It doesnt come close to reconizing what i say. Does anyone have any tips to improve this. I haven't tweaked anything yet so any help would be apperciated. Thank you
Agro
Its pretty good for me usually but I dont use it because the delay is soooo long I say "Call Telephone Number" Then I wait 5-10 seconds in silence then it says "Call Telephone Number" UGH!!
tillithz
mic placement can help
jimmy303
The system is also a learning program, so supposedly it gets better in time.
Agro
I never read anywhere that it learned w/ the Voice Recognition, only that it was a learning NAV that would learn from your driving habits.
jimmy303
Yeah, in a press release that came out with the AVIC-9DVD, it said there was a form of fuzzy logic that would learn your driving habits, preferred routes, and learn to respond to your voice more accurately over the AVIC-505. I only assume they kept the technology going through the whole AVIC evolution.
tillithz
maybe so, but really dont think its true myself. the "learning" it does for route and the smartness to adjust is not very good. I have put over 6k miles on the z1 and it still tries to route other ways. For example, I drive from S. California to N. California and take Hwy 5 every time, I have done this probably at least 7 times each way and it still wants to route me to 101 instead of 5. So I am wondering when it will learn because 6k miles is alot and by rights should have learned already. If it isnt learning thus far for the route, I hardly doubt the voice would learn any quicker/better.
jimmy303
Oh, I agree! I didn't say that I believed it, just that I read it. My voice recognition seems to work a bit better than on day 1, but it still screws up a lot.
Hydrilla Houndawg
I think mic placement has something to do with it. I drive a f250 diesel with 38" tires. Lots of road noise and engine noise. My Z1 has done very well. It used to get my 5's and 9's mixed up but that is no longer a problem. Try moving the mic
jimmy303
It also helps to learn how to talk to it. When I use it, I have to speak like a Minnesotan, doncha know.
ducatiboy
I'm from NJ so "I gotcha destination ri-chear" (grabs crotch). No wonder it doesn't work for me either.
