AVIC FEEDS FOR DROID USERS??

Recommended Posts

When android phones actually start selling in numbers to compete with the iPhone. Then maybe you will see some support. It cost a lot of money for these companies to to support numerous external devices. When that is the case, they are only going to support the most popular sought after device. That, at this point and for a long while is the iPhone and the iPod. I wouldn't expect that change for many years if it ever does.

I did notice today that AVIC feeds is available for the BlackBerry now as well so I imagine it is just a matter of time before the Android version is released.

Very true, for now. But look at the what Apple is up against. Were talking about one phone, from one company, on one carrier and Apple has been able to surpass and keep for a long while with several companies with several phones on several carriers. And no one has sold 1.7 million of anything in three weeks as Apple did with the i4 on launch as far as I know. Even after the whole nonsense antenna issue with the i4, studies show hundreds of thousands are still waiting for the i4 to become available enough to get their hands on them. Apple still clearly has the momentum and as soon as the exclusive carrier thing is done (which according to a statement from AT&T issued today will happen soon) Apple will again be on top of the heap. Regardless the iPhone and the Android devices will still be the most sought after of the bunch from here on out. I am surprised however that Pioneer decided to support the BB with AVIC FEEDS over the Android platform.

Android has outsold iPhone every month for the past 8 months now. This was from last May in 2010.

"For the first time since Android was released, it finally sold more phones than the iPhone. NPD Group is reporting that Android is the number two selling platform behind Blackberry in the US. Blackberries account for 36% of the market share, Android has 28% while the iPhone brings up the rear with 21%."

Android Outsells the iPhone - No Big Surprise

Google's OS is available on a variety of handsets, and those handsets are often much cheaper than an iPhone.

Actually iOS devices cary 44% of the mobile market so Apple has the lead. And although there are more Android phones sold, no single phone has ever out sold the iPhone. Android is on 10 or more phones across all major carriers as well as smaller regional carriers and that is the only reason Android phones outnumber the single phone on only two carriers. Even then, look how long it took for Android phones combined to outsell the iPhone. The point here is, the iphone is still the singular most popular phone in the world and that is what companies like Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, and JVC look at when building support. Regardless Android support will be added once Google decides to settle on a common version long enough so these companies can build support for it. Remember, the issue isn't Pioneer here, its Google with Android.

You must be a apple fanboy. I do not know where you get your numbers. But Gartner & IDC are 2 of the most reputable IT research firms. Apple has no where 44% of market share

You can skew your results to say anything you want. The reports you posted are referring to just the iPhone's market share even though it says iOS. Keep in mind iOS runs on many Apple products and that is what companies like Pioneer look at when building support for. It remains to be seen what impact Android OS with other devices other then phones will do for there market share but at this point it isn't stacking up to Apple's.
