thanks - I read that thread - sorry, should have mentioned that. Used a Divx converter - nothing would play. I don't think that thread mentioned if extensions should be .divx or .avi, and which converter was preferred

what is the extension that the Pioneer understands? Does it understand more than one - .avi. divx. mp4 etc?

also, what resolution are you finding works best

I've only been able to play XVID MPEG4 (*.AVI) so that is what I use. 640X360 works good.

Been there also ; was kinda time wastin’ to try to convert protected m4v to avi from Itunes with a lot of converter apps or what you call’em until actually managed to find a good solution outta this.

 

Anyways, solved my problem with some Tunebite Converter app.

 

Used Tunebite to convert protected m4v to avi, t'was actually pretty easy.

Thanks - I'll give it a look. I don't really care about "protected" files, but just finding an extension and resolution that the overly fussy Pioneer likes would be good.
