pajd
Does anyone know if u need a special wiring harness or just one for a pioneer radio?
RonS
The ones that Pioneer includes have plugs on one end - which connect to the rear of the HU. On the other end is just loose wires. If you want, you can cut-off your existing factory harness and splice these loose ends to your factory wiring - but that looks like crap and will make it a real pain to change back or upgrade later. Most people buy an adapter kit specifically for their vehicle. It plugs-in to the factory harness and has looses wires on the other end. So your task is to just connect the loose wires (from the adapter kit and the Pioneer harness). It is easily undone and the adapter can be re-used if you decide to upgrade in the future. The down-side is that the extra adapter harness takes up space behind the HU which can be very tight already. Note: most likely it isn't completely plug-n-play. There could be wires the NAV unit needs (VSS, BU, PB) that aren't in the factory harness - you'll need to run those wires to an apporpriate source yourself.
