removing the XM module - How to

Recommended Posts

I just got a car with an AVIC Z1 with BT/IPOD/XM. I dont plan on getting XM and the constant "Updating" on the screen is annoying.

the XM module is installed under my passenger seat - can I simply disconnect the blue and black bus cables and the power connector and be done or does the bus loop need to be completed someplace behind the Z1 in the dash or at the IPOD module?

thanks.

iPod and XM module are 'daisey chained' using the IP bus. If you have a BLUE and BLACK cable plugged into your XM, your iPod will also be disconnected if you remove the cables. Try disconnecting the power from the XM to see if that works. If not, you will need to pull the radio to connect the iPod unit directly to the Z.
