edindaclub
do u guys use Licnese plate cam at all?? r they good?
socal_fun
Yeah, good question. The shop I'm using wants to use one of those for the rear view on my truck. I'm also going to have a bullet cam mounted on my Lance Truck Camper for when I'm towing the boat/motorcycle trailer. Price was about the same $225 as the Pioneer. ducatiboy
I got one off ebay for $150 and it works excellent.
tillithz
I use them and have them. $119 is my price and they work decently. Better in my opinion so you dont have to give up a lock cylinder and mounts rather easily.
edindaclub
is there anyone using this camera? http://www.avelectronic.com/License-Camera.htm
bobmun
you can find that same camera on ebay much cheaper.
tillithz
that 'looks' like the camera I have and that many have stated they have used here.
bobmun
the cylinder looks the same but it has a full frame around it.
socal_fun
What about theft protection ob these? Easy to steal or not?
tillithz
sure, but what about the wiring? that would take a bit more.
ducatiboy
is there anyone using this camera? http://www.avelectronic.com/License-Camera.htm That looks like the one I got off ebay. But mine was under $150. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0079479309 Not the best price around, but it seems like it works well. And once I ran the wires into the truck, I tiewrapped them up. I suppose someone could steal the camera, but as tillithz said you would have to cut the wires. You could always get some "security" screws for the license plate.
johul
I'm using that camera. The picture is excellent, day and night. One thing to consider is you will have to drill thru the back door. The irony is the threads on the bolts are the same as on the standard license plate. If you look close at the plate frame you will see the hex head is recessed. That means there is no way to screw the bolt all the way into the frame. This was done as a security feature, so you will have to drill out the threads. Then I did something I may regret someday. I drilled the two holes on the bottom of the frame thru the door. My cameras not going to be stolen, but I will always four bolts thru some frame should I take out the camera.
tillithz
drill out what threads? just get a bolt that has a head slightly smaller then the hex opening. works fine for me, or you can use the supplied screws that come with the one i have.
Egmont
Question, can the camera be removed from the frame? It is nice and small, would like to it mount in my bumper.
bobmun
I don't know if about that but, I use this camera on my push bumper on my tow truck. the hardened glass is what I like about a camera in the bumper http://cgi.ebay.com/KEYHOLE-CCD-WIDE-AN ... dZViewItem
