Mistertomlinson
I am considering getting an AppRadio 3, but wasn't sure if I could plug a flash drive in the USB port. I MUST have this functionality. Anyone know? Thanks for the help.

Any chance they could enable this feature via a firmware upgrade in the future? I just got it installed couple days ago and am a bit disappointed that I can't use a flash drive to just play music! FYI apparently you can use an HDMI flash based device. Read the article on the Google Chromecast. http://appradioworld.com
JazJon
If you get the DVD model of AR3 you can at least burn a ton of MP3's if that's all you want quick access to when you're phone isn't handy etc. I've seen people hookup an AppleTV to their AppRadio on one of the youtube videos I ran across the other day too. Read the article on the Google Chromecast. http://appradioworld.com Yes, I did see that. Although, my main purpose was to use a large flash thumb drive and just keep updating songs there. Instead of buying a large capacity iPhone etc. This is an interesting option, but still would require a separate device to hold songs I guess.

True.. I do plan on using this option. I was just trying to avoid burning DVDs/CDs as I had been in my standard factory unit in the past. Thumb drive is much more convenient in my opinion. Since it's all streamed anyway, I have gone the DLNA option off of servers at home. I will test it this weekend. Setup a VPN off of the iPhone and then stream my local media on my home server. Streaming is the way to go. Check out http://airplayit.com (best free option) it also lets you save / download your own stuff for offline use! If you want to pay for more bells and whistles check out Plex http://www.plexapp.com/ (audio, video, and pictures) or http://zqueue.com/streamtome/index.html VPN might work if you're willing to go through all the extra steps. The above are super simple to setup and access on demand. You could even use DropBox etc

cyberdiamond
Writing to pioneer saying every other brand has this in their mirror link models is the only way to get it done. Hopefully in a new firmware if enough people write in about it and also put it on their Facebook page etc.
