Z150BH, iPhone5

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

This is my first post & this Wednesday I'm having the Z150BH installed by a local installer. After reading the installation manual on (p#8 & #9) has the instructions on the iPhone & Android. In order for the iPhone5 to work properly for my Apps, I will need to purchase an accessory cable for $50.

I would like your thoughts if this will work rather then purchasing the Pioneers cable.

1) Use this Apple cable    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD818ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-cable?fnode=3a   (connect the USB end to the rear of the unit & the other end to this Apple AV Adapter    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=3a

2) Next connect one end of a HDMI cable to the rear of the unit & the other end to the Apple AV Adapter.

I believe this will work? yes/no?

Thanks,

Rich

BTW......great info on this forum

You do not need to buy the pioneer kit.  All you need is the Apple Lightning Digital AV adapter (about $50) and the Apple USB to Lighning cord (about $20) and a highspeed HDMI cable (as little as $10).  The USB port in the back of the radio will charge your phone, and the HDMI port is used for the AppRadio interface.

I have this setup but I also use an intermediate USB cord (male to female panel mount that also included the mini jack) that I plug the lighting to USB cord into.  This saves me from burying the iphone cable behind my dash and made for a cleaner install.
