There are a couple things I like about the D3 - You are able to change lighting colors - has divx support - plays dvd movies (no known hack yet for driving) - has 2007 maps - as many accessories as the Z1 (bluetooth,etc.) - DVD MP3 Capability Z1 -has bigger screen -has 2006 Maps (requires 250 dollar upgrade available in a couple months) -has hard drive so able to have a vacant dvd-rom - can store 10GB wav files (not mp3) - has text to speech (says street name as opposed to turn right) - horrible mapping technology (uses a form of estimation on address ranges. This will be fixed with the map updates) - known hack for preupdated units (prior to 2007map update) My suggestion, if you are going to get a Z1, wait for the Z2!!!!!! I really don't know if the Z1/Z2 will get improved iPod ever. I don't know what the limitations are of the IPBUS. We'd probably see a new iPod box, what's the model? CD-1B100llI or something... Kryptonite Posted February 27, 2007 Report Share Posted February 27, 2007 I share this same dilemma as I've bought the BD1 (bluetooth) for the Z1 and the ipod connector (cd100II or something like that), AND NOW I have decided to switch and get the D3. I really hate giving up the inch in screen size and just the cool factor of having a "Z1", but what da hell; for the ipod connectivity and the color changing interface, it will match my BMW's dash lighting perfectly and give me movies galore. Plus, it has some of the 3D mapping (according to the manual i downloaded) that the Z1 is always showing off. Im all D3 at this point - It's just an overall better unit for what I do...
