Wmorefield
Stupid question, may have been covered already. Can I connect iPhone and iPod at the same time? I have phone connected by cable to allow for carplay. I'd like to connect my iPod touch 5th gen by Bluetooth. Is this possible? If so, please help. I have the 5000 unit installed. First time I used it, it allowed me to link via Bluetooth, but now I can't seem to figure it out. My iPod tries to connect, but it always fails. Thanks
philfrompa
To use CarPlay, you must connect by USB, which then disables Bluetooth. You can't have both at this time.
feinberj
The NEX5000 has two USB ports. You have to have your iPhone connected to port 1 via a lightning USB cable, but there's no reason you can't then connect your iPod to USB port 2. You can either run CarPlay or the NEX interface to play music from the iPhone. To play music from your iPod, you'd have to switch to the NEX interface, and select iPod 2 from your source list. I've got this setup - I've got an old iPod with a cracked screen that sits in my center console bin and it's just connected all the time to USB 2. If I forget my iPhone, the trusty old iPod is ready and waiting.
